I like the English and Irish ales and stouts. They don't have that bitter after taste. If you l;ike the darker ales get some Boddington's Pub Ale. It's golden and light with a nice creamy head but is nice and stout with just a kiss of honey at the end of the taste.

Belgian brews are my favorite now.

I'm glad you know your yeast, bet it comes in real handy.”

It does when you homebrew. Or I should say, it comes in handy if you like to know what you're doing when you homebrew.

Pink, off the top of my head, bock is an ale.
If you don't care for the hoppy Pale Ales, and like Stouts better, I suggest you try a Porter, they're dark and sweeter than stouts. Look for Black Hook. You'll be hooked.

I think I've tried some porters...and liked them as well.

Think & I have 2 bottles of Sam Adam's Triple bock... We bought them a few years ago (I think it's a vintage 1994 or something like that).. We actually bought 3 bottles and tried 1 right after we bought them-- very syrupy-- tasted almost like soy sauce to me... so we decided to let it age and see what happens.. (it comes in a tiny bottle-- and corked like a wine.... We may have to try it again this year!

Drinking a Warsteiner right now. Just a good German lager with a nice touch of hops bitterness at the end. Great way to stop raking leaves in the yard.

Hey Navi, was it you who brought that honey mead made with champaigne yeast to the Llama Rama several years ago? That was a very interesting brew. Never knew that a particular yeast could influence the taste of something so much till I tasted that mead. I sure would like to drink some of that again...hint... hint!

Sorry, Sol, Old Timer had the mead.
My contribution was the "Llama Logger", a summer ale with extra malt.

Drinking something that I haven't had in quite a while...

I cut up a bunch of fruit this morning and soaked it in Sangria. Reaping the harvest, so to speak, right now...

Damn! This is pretty tasty!

Sol, no plans at this time.
Got people hitting different trails on Sat. & Sun. Makes it hard to have a prehike party and I don't think I want home brew in my car for a week.

My buddy in England emailed this to me. It was too funny to not share with all you beer lovers:

Dear all

I have just got wind of the following security alert. Ireland and the United Kingdom are particularly at risk...

Over the festive period Police are warning all men who frequently visit clubs, parties and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman.

Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer." The drug is found in liquid form and is available anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, from taps and in large "kegs".

Beer is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and have sex with them. A woman needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of Beer and then simply ask him home for no-strings-attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this approach.

After several Beers, men will often succumb to the desires to perform sexual acts on horrific looking women to whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking Beer, men often awaken with only hazy
memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that "something bad" occurred.

At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." In extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into
a longer term form of servitude and punishment referred to as "marriage."

Men are much more susceptible to this scam after Beer is administered. And sex is offered by the predatory females.

Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. If you fall victim to this "Beer" scam and the women administering it, there are male support groups where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter with similarly victimized men.

For the support group nearest you, just look up "Golf Courses" in the phone book.

Remember, Stay vigilant, stay safe and have a very merry Crimbo...

I got some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket so I hit the liquor store for my New Year’s Eve run. I got a couple bottles of Chemay Grande Re`serve and a pint of Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout and placed an order for a case of 12 bottles of Ommegang’s Belgian Sampler.

The Chemay is about $7-9 a bottle but it's oh so good and the Reserve is 9%. It kicks in about half way through the first glass. It's worth it. The case of Ommegang hurt...$55. This is what christmas money was made for; the things you wouldn't normally buy yourself.

Damn Nigel! That is some good stuff. I have not had it in awhile. I will have to see if I can hook myself up for New Year's Eve with a bottle.

Wife gave me the OK to get sloppy drunk and act like a fool this year. She is almost encourging me.

Just as with guns it is the owners responsability to properly secure the gun and/or beer. Now, one would think leaving crappy Coronas laying around would be safe because, who wants to drink that pisswater? LOL! But a fine beer deserves to be properly protected in a beer safe.

Congrats WK! Don't worry, you can still get sloppy drunk once the baby comes. After the first six months* of sleep deprivation you and the wife can take turns getting sloppy. Or best yet, give the child to a grandparent for the night every once in awhile. It's good for everyone. I have friends who still haven't had a night with out the kid after THREE YEARS. I don't think they have sex either*, poor people.

I'm stuck drinking the michelobe sampler case we got from well meaning relatives for Christmas. Any alcohol is good though with the crazy stuff that's been going on around here lately. Home improvement hell, lol. It's going to be good when it's done though!
