SnowDude had to work again. Mammoth conditions weren't great so I wanted to hike. Calhiker came over and gave us some tips on beautifying my photos. We left Torrance kinda late. We got pulled over by 2 CHP for pulling off the highway in a drug dealing area so they ran a check on us. (I only stopped to pee at this dirt road, I always stop there) I had my old and new CADL so I gave them both and said I just got married (to explain why I had 2). Calhiker is younger and not my husband. Wonder what they thought!

It was a long drive to Mesquite CG, and with the delay we got in really late. Woke up at 8am Saturday with 4 hrs sleep, and drove to the Racetrack (3,050'). Got a late start hiking Ubehebe Peak (5,678'), but it was easy and we made it in 2 hrs. There was a lower peak so we bagged that on the way down. The register also said 5,678' even though it was way lower than the other one. We got back just as it got dark.

We had options for Sunday but decided the other hike would take all day, plus my friends didn't have much info when we left and we weren't even sure we'd find them. Instead we took the 4WD road out to Lone Pine, which took most of the day with all the photo stops I made. It was a beautiful drive, and we had time for showers and dinner in Lone Pine, before heading home.

Another FUN weekend!

Link.

Cool shots once again. Between craters, peaks, mines, snow, etc you packed in a lot of adventure in a short amount of time.

Either you had one strange looking tent set up at Mesquuite Campground, or you took a picture at Scotty's Castle! The 'Castle' is a nice place to visit if you have the time.
