Brian Pickrell, a blogger, recently posted a note on his Web site attacking state legislation that would force Wal-Mart Stores to spend more on employee health insurance. "All across the country, newspaper editorial boards — no great friends of business — are ripping the bills," he wrote.

It was the kind of pro-Wal-Mart comment the giant retailer might write itself. And, in fact, it did.

Several sentences in Mr. Pickrell's Jan. 20 posting — and others from different days — are identical to those written by an employee at one of Wal-Mart's public relations firms and distributed by e-mail to bloggers.

That's what Dennis Hopper said to David Lynch when they were casting "Blue Velvet"....

"I *gotta* play Frank Booth, David... Hell... I AM Frank Booth!!!"

(thanks for the memories, Bearmagnet!)

As for the other business.... It occurred to me last week that they ought to cut the crap and color the star in the Malwart logo RED instead of blue.

Stovie is gonna laugh at me.
I'm so ashamed and pissed at myself. I just went shopping for groceries at Walmart for the first time since last summer. Oh the horror. I was stuck in the town of Denham Springs, LA after taking the kids to the orthodontist. We went snackshopping for this weekend at Sipsey. It was herd mentality. It took me an hour and a half to get what I went for. Denham Springs once had a Delchamps, National, Winn Dixie, Rouses and A&P. The only one left standing is you guessed it Walmart. All I can say is never a F---inggan. It's my fault I chose to go there.

The thing that surprises me is how whenever the issue of walmart comes up how many of the progressives around here make fun of the poor. I thought that was the whole issue for them was how walmart makes people poor but then they turn right around and make fun of the poor who shop there. I don't get it, I thought the progressives were the caring bunch?

Clinton Quiet About Wal-Mart Ties By BETH FOUHY, AP Political Writer
1 hour, 2 minutes ago

NEW YORK - With retail giant Wal-Mart under fire to improve its labor and health care policies, one Democrat with deep ties to the company — Sen.Hillary Rodham Clinton — has started feeling her share of the political heat.

Clinton served on Wal-Mart's board of directors for six years when her husband was governor of Arkansas. And the Rose Law Firm, where she was a partner, handled many of the Arkansas-based company's legal affairs.

Clinton had kind words for Wal-Mart as recently as 2004, when she told an audience at the convention of the National Retail Federation that her time on the board "was a great experience in every respect."

But in recent months, as the company has become a target for Democratic activists, she has largely steered clear of any mention of Wal-Mart. And late last year, Clinton's re-election campaign returned a $5,000 contribution from Wal-Mart, citing "serious differences with current company practices.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060310/ap_on_el_se/hillary_clinton_wal_mart

When you get around the fact that they have changed lives by making some people producers when they were leeches, and the fact that they keep overall prices low by their competititve attitude, and you combine that with the taxes a city can rake in....yeah the do a crappy job....WHO THEY HECK TOLD THEM THEY COULD BE SUCCESSFUL AND NOT BE LEFTIST
