After slipping into bag after bag after bag at REI, looking for one that didnt drive me mad with the feeling of confinement I had to settle on the SynCat +20. Weighing in at around 4.5 lbs and stuffing a little large it had by far the largest chest girth and I still feel restricted.

Someone advised me that this was a great car camping bag but too heavy and bulky for backpacking, but even the name-brand bags touted as "flexible" or "roomy" were significantly smaller than the SynCat. Had to make the compromise and get The Big Bag.

A really compact and lightweight sleeping bag won't do you any good if you can't sleep and be comfortable in it.

Yeah, my other bag "fit" but I could never get a decent night's sleep in it. I decided on my last trip that I didnt care what the damn thing weighed I was getting a roomy bag.

I got the M.H. 2d dimension with
the expanding side tube so I wouldn't feel tight in the chest.
I use it for spring and fall.

Sometimes, you gotta do what ya gotta do. That would be real heavy fer me, but if it enhances yer experiance in the field, have at it!

I climbed into the MH 2nd dimension, and I was seriously considering it. But the SynCat had more room than the 2nd Dim with the draft tube expanded.

I just looked up the 2d dimension
in a catalog. This years bag has a
mosquito hood sewn into a hidden
collar pocket. My bag is barely
six months old! Man, this upgrade
thing has been gone on since I
started collecting gear in high school!

I don't think I could sleep good under a hood like that, but it'd be cool when your "tarping". How do you keep it up off your face?

Upgrades
I remember buying a gore tex bivvy
bag. Next years' model had a mosquito net sewn in. Same same happened with my 2d dimension, This years' model has the net,not mine! Deja vu!
The syncat may have been a better
choice. If I wanted to add a down
upgrade liner to my bag,it may not
fit even with the expand zipper open.
