“The nice thing about a big family is a big Thanksgiving and having enough sisters to do all the cooking and cleaning. I laid on the floor and had the youngest nieces knock the kinks out of my back. I am not as good a horse as Uncle Mark, but my back feels great.

By gut is swollen, my back is better, and hunting season has started again. Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday.”

“Hmmmmm. Is there a connection between your back getting better and the hunting season starting?”

“Yeah, I'm stuffed. I've gained so much weight in just one day. I bet I'm up to 120 pounds now...”

“No, I missed the opening weekend flat on the couch. I got this swollen disk thing going on. I get it back to normal in a few days and then I have muscle spasms in my tenderloins for a month.”

“Can't they do anything for it, medically.”

“Tenderloins?

Anyway, Sounds like you're having a good holiday. When I get off work, I will be too.”

“My prescription is ice and ibuprophen. I spent a week in the hospital on morphine 15 years ago. Since then I figured out how to treat it on my own, but it takes time and patience.”

“Anyway, my back feels good and so does my tummy.

Did I mention that it is my favorite holiday?”

“I wish I was stuffed. The nice thing about being laid off is that I don't have a schedule and as in years past...I didn't have to choose to work Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving--I get them both off now!

Unfortuneately I caught a nasty cold a few days ago and can't eat much...The Suzie-Q cake and the Pecan Pie look very tempting...maybe I'll feel better tomorrow.”

“Thanksgiving was very nice this year. No relatives so I could just cook for my own family and enjoy the day. I have a bit of a cough and my voice is off so I haven't been able to sing Christmas songs while putting the tree up, but other than that this holiday is pretty much perfect. I want to try to make a gingerbread house later this weekend with my daughters, and take them hiking, and play basketball with them. I love long weekends. My husband got a nailer and compressor for an early Christmas present and is busy finishing lots of projects around the house. He also got a motorcycle from a friend and is reliving his youth. My girls got top marks on their report cards and both were chosen for the enrichment program. I have an A in my Anatomy class. So we are all happy healthy campers.”

“Don't go putting a bull's eye on your tummy now!”

“I couldn't eat anything I liked. I had laser surgery in my mouth Tuesday and eating isn't easy or enjoyable at all. Liquid nutrition and lukewarm soup gets sickening after a while.”

“I kicked my brother's butt in pool, 13-2.”

“I remember you telling me that you would be having surgery soon.

How did it go?”

“Got stuffed and played catch with my brother. Nothing quite like baseball on Thanksgiving!”

“I haven't seen any of my siblings.
(3 bros,4 sisters) since last August. My oldest sis got a house
on a hill in a sea side town. My
first visit there.We ate in a sun
drenched 3 season room looking down on the harbor. Then I went to
work for the night. But it was pretty nice.”

“I got to the deer stand late this morning. Seven does came up the hill and crossed in front of me. A few minutes later a seven point buck started up the hill.

He never made it.”

“congrats on th hunt bacpac. This is my first year of NOT hunting in years.”

“Congats bacpac! Wow, and birch said Jarheads were bad shots!!??”

“Scorch, the surgery went OK, but almost 1/3 of the roof of my mouth is now a crater of charred tissue that's slowing turning into raw meat as it heals. I'm hoping that it can fill in with new tissue once it heals. It's pretty sore as I expected and trying to keep food away from it while eating isn't easy. It has to be kept clean too to avoid infection so that's another project now. At least I don't have a feeding tube dangling out of my nose, I hate those things. On the bright side it seems to be healing pretty good so far.”

How does an old guy with a bad back haul a seven point buck out of the woods anyway?”

“I take a rest every 30 yards.”

“Okey dokey. Did you use some sort of deer sled?”

“His horns? I take it you have never been deer huning.”

“These are cheap, and might make your next haul a little easier.”

“I'm no hunter, it's true. It just seems like this would make it easier, but if you're more into style points, please carry on.”

“And they're antlers, not horns... Unless you accidentally shot a bull.”

“I deer slides on it's hide. It is the uphill climb that takes the wind out of me.”

“Rich, I hope that you heal quickly, that doesn't sound like much fun. And I know how much you hate painkillers. What do you do with that, suck on ice pieces?”

“If you have a gut, and I'm not saying that you do, because I really don't know, you need to get rid of it. You'll notice a huge differnece in your back if you do so.”
