Does this mean we will be base camped at 3 lean-tos for Sat, Sun, Mon nights at CHIMNEY POND?

We could hike whatever loops, whatever day, and come out Tuesday?

Maybe fly in Friday afternoon, drive to twiggy's house, sleep on twiggy's floor, drive to Baxter Sat morning?

Hey SS, I might be able to help you out with a ride from say..... Portland, if you fly into there.. but can't say for sure until the thing transforms into reality.

This looks good for me. Hopefully I will be divorced by then, if not I may be in jail.

Let me start checking as to where to fly into.

Portland, ME would probably be the best but I think twiggy mention Manchester, NH as a good place also.

Stove, I am going to check out both places for the best price.
Ewker

1/08/04

Ewker, it's about the same price at both places for me.
Portland is closer but I sure would like not to rent a car solo.

Artex - thanks, I may need all the help I can get! Sooooooooooo, your 'thing' is gonna happen? ;)
StoveStomper

Manchester is about 130.00 cheaper for me than Portland. Then I have to rent a car, how long of a drive from Manchester to Twiggy's

Ewk & SS--
I'm not sure yet if I'd be able to be there the whole time. So....I'll have to see what you guys set up for yourselves (plane wise and car wise) and go from there.
I want to go sooooooo bad, too. Even if I can only go for 2 days. (well. That's being a bit drastic, I guess)

I'll get details from my travel guy tomorrow, but he says Manchester is cheapest then take a bus to Portland where someone can fetch you. Not sure what all it involves though.

Chimney Pond in August is primo - who cares what we do after that!
(we max at 12 for this leg of the trip)

wahoo!

Hey Twig-
What time you think we'll be leaving Chimney Pond on Tuesday? morning.......afternoon.......evening?
yam
4:06:31 PM
1/21/04

probably morning...
The schedule for Tuesday is...

...hike down from Chimney Pond whenever you want - takes an hour or two to hike. Just have to move out of the lean-tos by 11am.

For those continuing on, the rest of the day is maybe a short hike to Sandy Stream Pond or the nature trail, Hidden Springs for a shower, then drive a couple of hours to Ellsworth to resupply (i.e. hit the liquor store, LOL) and set up camp at Donnell Pond.
