You know I probably will never hike that trial again, not just because of that story, course that doesn't help, but just the nature of the beast. Can't imagine how the other hikers with him felt, pretty lucky I'm sure. You just never know though.”

the fields of flowers were gorgeous this past weekend...the moose was handsome and the mink was fun to watch as he ran in and out of the water catching crayfish. And the loons put on quite the songfest with coyotes in the background. The sunset was awesome and the moon's reflection sparkled on the water.”

There will likely be bugs. Mosquito coils are good for the lean-tos.

Bring whatever you like for critter protection for your food. I put mine in my sleeping bag stuff sack and hang it off the eaves of the lean-to. The ranger may not approve of this, but I've never had a problem. You can throw up your own bear line, bring ursack or whatever, or use the community cable to hang your food.

We can't swim or wade in Chimney Pond, but there is a rocky area available for swimming. No food or soap in any water source.

I don't filter my water from Chimney Pond or the stream on Saddle. I may be sorry someday, but not yet.

No audio electronics, i.e. two way radios, CD players, cell phones, etc. Quiet time is 9 or 10 and is enforced.

We can stow any beverages that need refrigeration in the wash area to keep them cool. I bring a mesh bag for that.
