“George W. Bush and Top Republicans Apologize for Exploiting Schiavo Family's Suffering for Political Gain

Unconfirmed sources report that the President and Republican Congressional leaders have publicly apologized to the Schiavo family for taking advantage of their suffering to score political points. The extraordinary press conference has held at the White House and featured direct apologies as well as a tearful plea for forgiveness from the President himself. Teri Schiavo's parents could not be reached for comment as they were too busy begging the courts to reinsert their daughter's feeding tube.

"I'm real sorry," stated the President through tears of remorse. "we Republicans have done a bad thing. We've taken advantage of your family's suffering to score points with our pro-life conservative base. We have been so hypocritical in fighting for your daughter's life, while at the same time we try to cut the funding that pays for her care. It's sad. We are just a bunch of political grandstanders who don't really give a damn about your daughter, but are simply using you and her for our own ends.

"I'm proud to be Republican." Said Senator Joe Lieberman. "I'm proud to belong to a party that knows when it is being manipulative and hypocritical and has the inner strength to admit it. Sure we are using the whole Schiavo thing to whip up the American public into a mindless frenzy, but what is wrong with that. "

"I was weak." Cried the repentant Tom Delay. "I'm a bad man. I used the suffering of others to further my own political ambitions and keep people from thinking about how much of a criminal I am. I just couldn't help myself. It was just there, an opportunity to make some political hay, so I did. Was it unethical to exploit these people? I think I had better talk to the House ethics committee to see."

“Congress Demands Olsen Twins' Feeding Tube be Reinserted

Washington, DC — With Terri Schiavo's case moving through the courts as her life holds in the balance, Congress has taken another unusual step in its unprecedented involvement in the eating habits of Americans, by demanding the Olsen Twin's feeding tube be reinserted immediately.

After three hours of emotional debate, the U.S. House voted 135-96 early today to send President Bush a bill aimed at prolonging the lives of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Despite largescale protests, the bill, sponsored by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, must now be approved by a Beverly Hills district court judge, who holds the key to whether the twins should live or die.

"We realize public sentiment is very much divided, but no matter how we feel about the acting ability of the Olsen Twins, we should still make every attempt to save them," DeLay said. "Someday, with new medical therapies they may grow up to lead a normal life."

In the streets of Manhattan where the twins are studying at New York University, everyone seems to have an opinion about the case.

"I've seen a couple of their movies and they walk and talk as if they understand stuff," cabdriver Vinnie D'Angelino said. "I think that in a few years there might be some kind of medical miracle that can let them speak and communicate almost like normal people. We should give them a chance at life. Or not. Whatever."

"I think they should definitely be put out of their misery," said NYU graduate student Bill Gergin. "They may look like they understand us, but they clearly are just two robots who just mimick words like parrots. And they have small breasts. It's unfair to keep them alive."

Publicist Michael Pagnotta refused to speculate about what the judge will do but indicated that previous bouts with eating disorders and dozens of poor quality direct-to-video mystery solving movies, may sway a jury.

"We understand that 'New York Minute' was not well received -- especially in New York," Pagnotta said. "That's why we requested a venue change to Beverly Hills. Only a judge can decide if the twins should live or die, but I've known the girls for years and when they're off camera, they grunt and blink as if they want to live. But really, who knows for sure."”

“I don't mean to pick on the Olsen twins, but when they were on Ophra, the healthier one defended her sister when Ophra mentioned an eating problem and she said her sister did not have one.

I think it was the next week that her sister went into rehab. And by the way, there was much speculation if it was a rehab for her to eat or for using drugs. So maybe her sister was not lying when she said her sister did not have an eating problem.

Ophra made sure she replayed that program when the twin was in rehab showing that her sister was lying. Actually, it's no ones business, but the girl twin that was not eating was sitting slouched over with her clothes hanging on her like she was a pole when she was on Ophra.”

Well, the Pope is still able to communicate with others, though he's obviously not able to do that in the same capacity he used to. My opinion is that Terri Shaivo can't communicate (at least from what I know of the facts) and I personally wouldn't want to be kept alive if I coudln't communicate with others.

Mutt was very bright. Used cogent arguements. Backed his stuff up with facts.


Was an agnoistic. Certainly had no use for Christianity.


Oryx is some college kid from Ames. He seems unable to sustain a coherent, logical arguement. His relative youth shows through virtually all of his posts.

Michael would not allow an investigation into the broken bones in Terri's body. He blamed them on the hospital therapists, but would not allow an investigation. Didn't even sue the hospital ... didn't try to get anybody fired. Judge Greer upheld his desire for it not to be investigated ...

Sarge -- he is riding the Terri Schiavo thing for the commercial value of it. He is making appeals to the emotional side of his audience hoping to build his listenerdom of chuckleheads.
