Here's my question:

IF you have a sticker on your car,... Why do you? What's your purpose in doing that?

1. Do you think the rest of us don't know there's another candidate for office... if we're Bushies, don't you think we know that Kerry is out there? If we're Dem's, don't you think we know the Repubs are also running a candidate for that office? HELLOO! ANYONE HOME???

2. Are so so arrogant that you believe you're "educating" the rest of us?

3. Do you just not think about the impact of what you do.. therefore, to you, who cares what anyone thinks about your bumber sticker?

Just food for thought.

THOUGHT... now THERE's a concept!

I drove into San Francisco yesterday AM for a meeting, which I do quite often, it kinda' cracks me up that once you pass a certain point you've left "reality-land" and entered "SanFrancisco-land"! The bumber stickers (which you have LOTS of time to read because of the traffic back-up :() change from (A) none at all to (B) Generic, "run-of-the-mill" stuff, to (C) way left, Berkely-type messages like "Save the Whale-Shi*).

I think they should have a new bumper-sticker there... "Save the rusted-out, 1960's era VW hippie-bus - we need a Government Program to pay for it!"

I'm sure they could come up with some reason to claim they are "cultural icon's" of a lost era or some such thing... the problem is the owners of those products don't yet grasp the fact that they are part of an era the rest of the country has left behind!

I haven't any bumper stickers, but I do have a lot of decals from places I visit. There's also an American flag, "I love my soldier," and some backpacking decals. I don't do it for any reason except because I like to. I like walking up to my car and seeing them all and knowing that I have made my vehicle unique. And sometimes at a long light or waiting for a train, I'll look in my rearview mirror and see that the people behind me are pointing and reading them. I like to give them a little something interesting to look at, too.

I'm sorry, but I still think anyone who wants to have their beliefs / wishes /dreams expressed to the world, who they don't even know, via a bumper sticker.... well, 'nuff said, lets start a collection plate for these poor souls. How sad is that? sniff, sniff :(

What gets me is why people think what they think or have to say is so fu&^ing important that they have to show it to the rest of us!

I don't know you at all, so why should I care who you voted for, etc? What makes you think by you putting a piece of plastic on your bumper that you change anyone's mind or motivate them to think the least little bit about your position on some issue is incredibly niave.

My guess is some people put a bumper sticker on their car to get a rise out of people.

And apparently it works.

Two questions.

1. Is your rant simply about political stickers or all stickers in general?

2.the owners of those products don't yet grasp the fact that they are part of an era the rest of the country has left behind

So what's wrong with liking and driving old cars?

HPM...

1. Mostly my rant is about political stickers, I think some are "over the top" (on both sides) and do nothing but promote further divide.

2, I drive an old car! That was mostly a barb at the older hippie-types in Berkely who are still living in the late '60's! It's just kinda' funny to me to see those old VW busses covered with the old "Make Love not War" original bumber stickers! I saw one yesterday that had the old day-glo flowers all over it.

1. I think political stickers are for the most part simply stupid. To me quantity indictes relative lack of critical thought. But whatever, it's their car not mine.

2. That's what I figured. My old truck was built in '48. Once you get into the 60s and 70s my interest wanes. Hopefully I'll get it back on the road soon.
