It started as what I thought was a really bad head cold.” 9:32:29 AM 3/13/06 “As a matter of practice I have found that the zinc (xicam or coldeze) rememdies and the Zinc Echinacea Teas work great.” 9:56:28 AM 3/13/06 “I have a bad case of the Mondays.” 11:48:50 AM 3/20/06 “Stovie, get a job like mine...24/7 365...unless I am out of radio/cell range...I may be recalled! Since there is never a friday there is never a MONDAY (LOL)” 12:15:14 PM 3/20/06 “WTH kinda job is that? You mafia?” 12:25:42 PM 3/20/06 “Weird. I've had that "feel like I have a cold coming on" feeling for, let's see, eight days now. The other 2 Bowlders are both sick, have been for the same time period. Can't really afford to get sick right now - leaving for the Yukon on Friday. Don't really want to be hackin' my guts out and snotting all over the place in my tent ten zillion miles from nowhere....” 10:27:59 PM 4/03/06 “Becareful BM, that "Feels like a cold" turned out to be a nasty flu for many people down here.” 6:50:34 AM 4/04/06 “Lots of hot liquids!!!!!.... VERY bad virus going around down here.......my sweetie had the #&%!$s for 3 days, and was close to dehydration..........I sure hope I don't get it!!!!!!!!” 6:53:14 AM 4/04/06 “Go crazy with the Orange Juice, quick!! I hope you make it to the Yukon well.” 6:57:55 AM 4/04/06 “Ohhhhh that would totally suck if you were sick for your trip, don't get sick, Bowlder!! What have you been doing? The zinc lozenges always used to work for me...although one weird time they made me puke every time I ate one, even though it wasn't on an empty stomach (which they tell you not to do), so that was the last time I used them. But maybe those, and echinacea tea would work!” 6:58:10 AM 4/04/06 “Can you post without reference to puke/barf/vomit, Lyra? (ha ha!!)” 7:19:38 AM 4/04/06 “Ummm, well I don't really see the fun in that!” 7:46:39 AM 4/04/06 “I've been drinking hot herbal tea, drinking OJ, taking vitamin C, echinacea, zong gan ling, trying to get extra sleep, had a flu shot last fall, and, well, I'd say "etc.", but that means I left some things off the list - that's pretty much everything, right?” 7:49:16 AM 4/04/06 “Yeah Lyra, you gotta be you!! Get well, BowlderMan!!” 7:58:32 AM 4/04/06 “I guess I can't complain much. An old friend's dad just had surgery yesterday to have basically half his face taken off to remove cancer. The operation was successful in removing the cancer, but he will have several reconstructive surgeries in the coming weeks. My friend wrote in her email that her dad, who has a wacky sense of humor, will delight in finding weird eye patches to hide where his left eye used to be....” 8:00:26 AM 4/04/06 “I had the CRAP starting Last Wednesday...had a conference Wednesday and Thursday. Took off Friday, had to cover a shift Saturday. Now I was even sicker Sunday but I managed to spend it installing a metal roof in 80 temps and hot sun all day......I am almost over it though.” 8:49:35 AM 4/04/06 “Well Bowlder, if you do get sick, you could always do like on the NyQuil commercial...just take DayQuil every day, and NyQuil every night! LMAO!! It's that easy. It's the nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, wake up 3 days later naked someplace you don't recognize medicine. HAHA! I kill me.” 12:07:00 PM 4/04/06 “PROTEIN PEOPLE! Do I have to pound this into you? Vitamins are great when your healthy. When you start feeling sick it's b/c your immune system is going into overdrive, it takes what it wants from other systems. Protein feeds the immune system, it is the immune system.” 7:39:30 PM 4/04/06 “Damn, lyra, that sounds like an endorsement to me!” 8:18:07 PM 4/04/06 “Had my hair cut today by a hacking stylist. If I get sink, she's gonna hear about it. BM, Hope you get better before you get worse. Enjoy your trip.” 9:25:58 PM 4/04/06 “First I thought song was complaining about a bad hair cut.:-)” 10:08:13 PM 4/04/06 “I thought Song was complaining about a Bad haircut and I was trying to figure out what "getting sink" meant. last edited: 4/04/06 10:17:18 PM” 10:12:24 PM 4/04/06 “I'm currently coughing up clams. Blah.” 10:53:45 PM 4/04/06 “Damn RM, that's a nasty description!” 7:10:56 AM 4/05/06 “I still feel the same, kind of in limbo between well and sick. The other two Bowlders sound terrible and feel pretty lousy, too. T-minus two days until departure....” 7:35:09 AM 4/05/06 “He He, Yeah, a bad hair cut too. I can't win for losing. :P” 9:19:31 AM 4/05/06 “I was up half the night up-clucking :( i have such a belly ache. but I did manage to have a freakin NIGHTMARE about a cow that was trying to kill me. I woke up screaming. freakin mo mo” 6:17:25 AM 4/06/06 “I'm feeling better today....” 7:43:17 AM 4/06/06 “Yay, glad to hear it, Bowlder! I was missing your one-liners recently while you were feeling bad. No pressure or anything. Maple, I think you might be the only person I know who "up-clucks," LMAO! Looks like you're feeling better though... ;-)” 8:03:57 AM 4/06/06 “Oh, thanks goodness its not YOU singin' lunch lyra! >8^) .......this time! Hang in there maple...............and don't get any on ya!” 8:06:27 AM 4/06/06 “My flight leaves in about 34 hours. I think I'm all packed. I threw in about 4 extra packs of kleenex and a plastic bottle in case I need to take cough medicine along. No more one liners for about 8 days after that, unless we can use the satellite phone to log onto TT....” 8:13:56 AM 4/06/06 “Oh that's right...well I hope you have a fabulous time, and don't forget to take lots of pics!” 8:24:58 AM 4/06/06 “ok no shopping for me called out sick from work. im off to bed. OMG my belly really hurts :(” 9:08:23 AM 4/06/06 “I hate it when vomit comes out the nose. Yuck. Wish I knew what triggered this whole thing.” 1:51:26 PM 5/27/06 1:55:56 PM 5/27/06 “Yeah......it burns!!” 2:05:06 PM 5/27/06 “That's what I call honkin'” 2:05:39 PM 5/27/06 “marko- are you in the studio w/ tree today? what time is the show?” 2:06:36 PM 5/27/06 “Get better soon treebait.” 2:17:48 PM 5/27/06 “No, I'm layin' 'round the shack here in Baltimore.” 4:18:44 PM 5/27/06 “Still barfing. Taking a shot of malox before you throw up neutralizes the burn. Can't talk now either. This sucks. Actually it blows. I had a funny tasting diet Mt. dew this morning, that's all I can figure on what made me sick. I just wish water would stay down.” 5:48:52 PM 5/27/06 “tree.... was it six hours after you drank the mt dew? food poison starts between 6-8 hours after you ate the bad thing.” 6:27:06 PM 5/27/06 “It was less than an hour after the Mt. Dew, but that was all I'd had this morning. Nothing else. My head is still swimming, and it feels like I'm still having a full body allergic reaction, although it is now less severe. I'm nibbling a saltine now, and no gastric provocation yet. This sucks because I was really hoping to g outfor Japanese tonight. Age Daishi tofu still sounds wonderful.” 6:54:06 PM 5/27/06 “i think it was the thought of tofu that made ya hurl! Get well soon!” 8:25:54 PM 5/27/06 “Hey, Age Daishi Tofu is like candy. You'll just have to try it to believe me. Crackers stayed down, vernor's stayed down, and wonton soup broth is currently staying down. Now if only the pounding headache and earache would go away.” 9:04:07 PM 5/27/06 “If yesterday wasn't bad enough... This afternoon I had a molar shatter. A nice, exposed nub that I can't get taken care of until tuesday. What is actually a concern is it doesn't rerally hurt, I just know that it feels different. Not a good weekend.” 7:30:34 PM 5/28/06 “food poisoning can take 6-8hrs, can also take 1-2 days, depending on type.” 7:35:47 PM 5/28/06 “My son and I took our annual backpacking trip to South Pine in NE Iowa to fish some Brook Trout. He is 12 and a little shorter than I am. There are a lot of stinging nettles around that stream and he got into some of them being closer to the ground. I never thought much about it. The next morning we packed out and headed over to Yellow River Forest since I have never been there. He started to get blisters on his hand from where the stinging nettles got him. They started to get bigger. That night about 2AM he started throwing up about every 10 minutes. He got his down bag the inside of the tent and the outside of the tent. He was so week he could hardley get out of the tent. I did not feel safe hiking out in the dark so we stayed. At 7 AM he was still sick. A friend of mine was with me so we carried his pack out and got to the car. His blisters were about the size of a quarter and about 1/2' high. We drove home as he was feeling better. I took him to the emergency room and they said he had strep infection from the nettles carrying strep into his system when he got stung. He is now on antibiotics and should be fine in a few days. I have been stung by tose nasty weeds many times and never had anything like that happen. It was a bummer on a real nice weekend. One I don't think he will forget soon.” 8:20:56 AM 5/30/06 “Strep from nettles? I've never heard of that either. Poor kid, I hope he's feeling better.” 9:03:23 AM 5/30/06 “The strep wasn't from the nettles they were just the carrier to get it in his body. The Doc said we all carry strep and staff on our skin and the nettles have a hollow shaft and are good carriers to get things in the body. Another reason to keep extra clean when in the outdoors.” 9:29:35 AM 5/30/06 Jump to Page << prev
