Wild Plum is on Buckhorn road in Gatlinburg. It's wonderful there, but don't sit outside under the walnut tree this time of year.

I think everyone in the country will soon have that same cold. We already went through it, as did most of our neighbors. What really stinks is that the ragweed pollen counts went off the charts as soon as the cold went away, so we're still sniffing.

I need everyone's prayers, please. I started a headache last Monday that progressed to a migraine the next day. I did go into the urgent care clinic on Wednesday night for shots, but the headache never left. It's gone migraine again this morning. I've spent part of the day laying down with an ice pack in a dark quiet room and find no more relief in that than anything else. I've tried plenty of OTC stuff too.

So only prayers of a miracle at this point.

so i took two aspiren, two advil, & two benedryl with coffee, (for the caffeine). i layed down in a dark quiet room with an ice pack under my neck and one on my eyes. i slept all day. i got up for a few hours and forced myself to eat something. i did the same routine before going to bed again last night and slept for nine hours. i still have a headache, but it's not a migraine right now. i really did want to go to the V.A. for quick relief, but i know that i would have been labled a drug seeker in my medical records and i don't need that. i'm praying that this will cease & desist! i know it started because i missed one topomax pill, but i'm thinking that the huge changes in weather for the last week are playing into it too; lots of ups and downs in barometric pressure.

MRSA (drug resistant staph) is at epidemic levels in the schools around this region, but it barely gets a blurb on the local news. MRSA showed up with a couple of kids at Laurel's school this week. They let us know this afternoon, saying they've "made every precaution." Yeah, right. We were there last night and saw dust bunnies and general grime along with sticky doorknobs in the kindergarten building. Like that's been cleaned. Maybe I should just give Laurel's teacher a box of Virkon-S. That stuff kills everything.

mrsa is scary #&%!$. We got some bad mrsa stuff from the paitients we took in from Katrina in our hospital. It's been trouble ever since.

"i know it started because i missed one topomax pill, but i'm thinking that the huge changes in weather for the last week are playing into it too."

if it's any consolation, pamela, i take topomax, too, and have missed doses... that's never triggered a migraine. i think you'll find it's more likely weather systems or allergens or even, as my neurologist informed me, the possibility that your body has just become immune to the effects of the topomax (which is why we added a blood pressure regulator to my anti-migraine meds).

how's the headache mess today?

it's weird, it keeps coming and going. right now the pain level is a 2, it was much worse earlier. last night it was a 2 and it had been horrendous during the day. i don't know what's going on. full moon?

i HATE going to the doctor!!!!!!!!!! i don't go until. . .

how bad does it have to be? well my left arm has been weird since the first week of august, this sort of painful numb like someone peeled a layer of skin off of it and all the nerve endings are raw type of feeling. but i haven't gone to the doctor for it yet. i'm waiting for it to get worse. probably just a pinched nerve anyway.

probably, but when you do they always think you are a drug seeker. i'm a migraine patient so i'm used to it. besides it's not like i have a tumor or something, it's just a headache.

6 & 1/2 months post stroke
This weekend I tried a short 3/4 mile dayhike.
I may not be ready for speedy long miles yet, but I now am pretty sure I will be able to backpack again in the future.
Still limping some, but not as bad as I used to.
I did manage to hold a trekking pole with my right hand. It didn't always go where I wanted, but was useable. :-)

That's great and I'm sure you'll be able to go for longer distances with more rehab.

My speech is still a little slurred, but I talked so 'Southern' before the stroke, few 'yankees' can tell the difference. ;-)

Stovie, i would lvoe to hike with you :) I can probebly keep up with you now ;)

Glad to hear you are progressing!

Thank You, sweetheart. :-)

Back again. This sucks. I'm assuming the fairly severe body aches are from all the digging I did this past weekend but now I'm not sure. Laurel's just got a head cold, with drainage. I've got that plus the aches, fever, and the worst part of all: chills. I just can't get warm. Me having the chills usually means I actually have a fever, but the thermometer went no higher than 95.6 degrees. I wish I had a sauna, not just a mug of chicken soup.

Nope, not even. The high temps have been in the lower 70s for the weekend and the upper 70s yesterday and today.

I was in the middle of a great nap earlier; guess when my mom called to natter on at me again? I couldn't get back to sleep after that. I'm just trying to sip hot soup, and drink lots of water. I don't even feel like making tea right now. I swear the bed is calling my name.

Zombie Coyote

Nope, just some little toads who have since been moved and construction garbage that the builders just buried, rather than walk out to the front yard and put in the dumpster. I've been finding a few cool crystals though. One cluster was so hard that when I poked at it with my knife it dented the knife pretty good.

I think a hot shower or bath before I have to go pick up Laurel wins out for the afternoon.

In particular, this post:

#69 ::: LinD ::: (view all by) ::: October 16, 2007, 07:10 PM:

Unfortunately, flu shots kick my allergy response into high gear. I got a flu shot, had a three month nasty head cold, followed by a year without shot or long head cold (I did get the flu), followed by a year with flu shot and three month nasty head cold. I realized it wasn't a head cold when I had to be presentable for a public appearance - and couldn't even reduce the symptoms with my normal flu and cold killers*. As I told my physician, I can deal with and subdue the flu, even grim flu. But a three month head-cold-like allergy reaction is more than I want to deal with.

I did get a pneumonia shot.

---
*Vitamin C, zinc, chicken soup, more vitamin C, etc. Massive doses of antihistamines pretty much does in the "I have to make a public appearance" thing.

I got a flu shot a few weeks ago, and I've had really painful head colds twice now. Freaking lovely.

I'm feeling much better today, except for the clogged ears and a small fever. From what I've been reading, many people who got this years' flu shot are having the same problems. Just great.

I guess it's better than MRSA, which is at epidemic levels around here, but no one's talking about it much.

Wow, I never considered my flu shot! I felt miserable for a whole month afterwards. The timing was just right too. I wouldn't ever get them by choice, but I work with a bunch of elderly people and have a kid who brings home every little and big bug from school.
