“Yeppers. Weird, isn't it? WHat I hate even more is when your fever goes sos high you can't stop shivering and you actually think you're cold.”

“Tree...two kids on my son's football team had it...and the media got hold of it and went NUTS. I called the doctors office to make sure I was doing all they right things and they said 8-10 patients get it in the hospital. It is most commonly spread through althlets as well.”

“MRSA is in our school district. Two schools have had cases thus far. It's kinda scary. The jackasses who run the district didn't think it was important to notify employees and parents. We found out on the local news. Birch works for them and travels from building to building, all day. he works everywhere the kids are. He could have been spreading the stuff far and wide if he wasn't a hand washer. Stupidity on the Superintendent's part.”

“Been there done that in the past week too, SC. So did Laurel, but it bothered her a lot less. She was just upset that the breakfast that she ate all came back up, and she had to eat it all over again. "Oh, man! Now I have to eat cereal all over again! Darn it!"”

It was like this:

I was at this Superbowl party Some Years Ago. It was raining outside, but I had to go outside for something (can't recall why at the moment), but I was coming back toward the front door and stopped because there was a rock in my shoe.  I thought I'd just slip off the shoe, dump the rock and slip the shoe back on.

So I'm out in the front yard, in the rain, hopping up and down on one foot trying to get the shoe back on.... then I notice that there are about a dozen people inside looking out the picture window laughing their asses off.  I started laughing too.  This was back when I smoked, and I laughed so hard that I started coughing really hard....

So now I'm out in the front yard, in the pouring rain, hopping up and down on one foot.... and puking.... with an audience. Now the people inside are #&%!$ing DYING laughing.

I think one or two of them laughed so hard that they puked, too.


But I wasn't actually sick at the time, so I don't know if that counts or not.”

“This bug, whatever it is is starting to feel like i have lead weights on my lungs. UGH. I so don't want to go to the Doctor.....

But I may have to:(. I'll give it another few days and see if it doesnt get better.”

“I woke up this morning with a wicked sore throat. My throat and ears feel like they're on fire. I can hardly swallow or talk. It's weird. Other than that, I feel great. I'm not stuffed up, coughing, or anything.

My plan was to go to the gym and get on a treadmill today. They have tv's mounted to the treadmill so I was gonna watch the Bengals get spanked during my run. But I decided to stay home. I guess this is a good reason to sit on the couch under a blanket and do nothing. I just hope I don't wake up actually sick tomorrow. My job sucks enough life out of me when I'm healthy.”

“terrible cold. it started this last weekend when i was taking my boat lift out of the lake (awful hard job that took all day). now it's in full glory and i am utterly miserable. it could be worse as i was supposed to travel today to toronto and my employer was good enough (really) to let me out of the trip to be home for halloween. i didn't expect this but really, really appreciate it and now that i am so miserable i am even more appreciative of working from home today and tomorrow.”

“There's a doozy of a cold going around this year. I think it starts as flu, with the fever and body aches, then becomes a truly miserable head and chest cold.”

“indeed. terrible. i was thinking of taking a sick day today i feel so awful but i work from home and have so much work to do i can easily talk myself into a full days effort. that's one drawback to the home office.

“I'm just getting over it myself. Feel a hell of a lot better but I still get a racking cough a few times during the day and night.

Started with flu/fever for me as well.”

“You feel better Jim, It feels like it will last forever but it wont. Take a cough surpressent, goes a long way to help you function during this.”

“We call it the plague at our house. Poor Ab is just coming out of it. Under her nose split last night and started to bleed, poor baby. I can't chase her around at school with the Burt's Bees Rescue ointment.

Feel better Jimmy san. It took me three weeks to shake it. The kid only took a week though.”

“I still have chest congestion and a runny nose, and I wonder if my voice will ever get back to normal. Laryngitis forever, it seems. Laurel still has a runny nose, and a thorough cough-out every morning for about 15 minutes, then she's good for most of the day.”

“i was denied buying two boxes of decongestant today at walgreens. it was the 12 hour stuff that is behind the counter because people use it to make crystal meth or something. anyway, it's not a walgreens thing as they are just doing what the law requires. it was just annoying. man i hope this stuff clears up my head. last night was an awful nights sleep, if you can call it sleep.”

“is it too late to get the flu shot in December? lol.”

“i tell you... i'll wash my hands so many times per day after this my skin will get a rash.”

I got my flu shot two weeks ago..first time in my life...hope it works!”

“I still have coughing moments but for the most part I'm a lot better. A deep racking cough that lasts 10 minutes or so when it hits.”

“i take a shot of nyquil and then sit on the couch and slowly chase that down with a double of woodford reserve. then it's goodnight sweet prince. i am lucky if i make it up to my bed.”

“Try some Zicam. I'm not big on OTC stuff, but it works great. There's also a night time Zicam that helps you sleep. I never sleep through the night, but this stuff does the trick. I'll guarantee it, double your money back...just send me the receipt...”

“Zicam, really? i saw that but figured all that otc stuff is the same medicine... there are only like a dozen or so active ingredients across all the brands. i'll give it a shot nimblefoot. thanks!”

“active ingredient = "Zincum Gluconicum" which i guess is latin for zinc gluconate. so it's one of the 12 standard active ingredients. still, i'll give it a shot but it will probably cost a lot less and be just as effective to take zinc gluconate in less expensive forms. i used to take cold eeze but the lozenges taste gross.”

“Mucinex is your friend. Actually, I need to take some. I skipped on t he medicines for the last few days to see how I'd get by; not pleasantly, let me tell you. However, my cough is a little dryer than it has been. Not as constantly productive.”

“well in the last several hours i have progressed from the "blowing gallons of snot out my nose" phase to "the hacking non-productive dry cough until you nearly puke" phase. i think i am over the worst of it.”

“major drug induced coma tonight... i have some left over cough syrup with codeine in it. a shot of that, a shot of nyquil, and a double woodford reserve should put me out.”
