Defenitely sounds like swollen glands to me.

You have a whole range of glands up behind your jaw and ears . . .the classic swell up is in association with a bacterial thing like strep throat.


I used to get them all the time ...sometimes still do. Can be visible, hard lump.

“Well I got back from the Dr's a while ago and I figured I'd update you all on the anal-ear probe... I mean lumps behind my ear. They said it was a couple swollen lymph nodes, possibly due to some kind of foreign bacteria that got in my ear? She couldn't really tell me where it came from. If it gets worse (larger) within the next 3 weeks, she'll want to see me again and possibly biopsy it, but she doesn't think it's anything to worry about it. So for now, just keep an eye on it.”
