Catskill 3500' “Hey I was just looking at their site and I realized that I have climbed up 6 of the peaks needed to join. My January trip will add two more Hunter and Southwest Hunter. Anyone else here a member or working towards membership?” 3:22:18 PM 12/17/03 “Damn you!” 3:29:34 PM 12/17/03 “Maybe when I finish my ADK 46. Artex - I hear there are some real ear poppers in Florida. lol” 3:32:10 PM 12/17/03 “Artex, you could start the Florida Summit club. your goal would be to summit all of the bridges in FL.” 3:41:00 PM 12/17/03 “Ha ha ha! Don't forget the dead anthills.” 3:58:01 PM 12/17/03 “Oh yeah they get pretty big don't they. Do you need oxygen for the summit?” 3:59:13 PM 12/17/03 “Nah, just Raid.” 4:00:13 PM 12/17/03 “sometimes Artex talks a mountain of sh1t....does that count? jk..dude” 4:02:32 PM 12/17/03 “Hey Adventurist you up for the Catskills hike in Jan?” 4:05:01 PM 12/17/03 “Hmmmm...a possibility. I have off from school that following Monday.... I would love it if I could make it to a trip in the Catskills that Artex can't go on.... lets Oonga Boonga for snow....” 4:09:28 PM 12/17/03 “Catskills 3500 Club Slide (4180) Sugarloaf (Mink) (3800) Fir (3620) Hunter (4040) Wittenberg (3780) North Dome (3610) Black Dome (3980) Southwest Hunter (3740) Eagle (3600) Thomas Cole (3940) Balsam Lake (3723) Balsam (3600) Blackhead (3940) Lone (3721) Bearpen (3600) West Kill (3880) Panther (3720) Indian Head (3573) Graham (3868) Big Indian (3700) Sherrill (3540) Doubletop (3860) Friday (3694) Halcott (3537) Cornell (3860) Rusk (3680) Vly (3529) Table (3847) Kaaterskill High Peak (3655) Windham High Peak (3524) Peekamoose (3843) Twin (3640) Rocky (3508) Plateau (3840) Balsam Cap (3623) I've only got 12 bagged so far and 13 of the ADK 46'ers. One of my goals for 2004 is to spend much more time in both areas.” 7:05:31 PM 12/17/03 “Do you have SW Hunter and Hunter? Rusk Mtn is also right there off of the Spruceton trail, about a 3-4 hour round trip bushwack. Depending on the departure time on sunday we could drop our packs at the cars and bag Rusk. Three in one weekend.” 8:01:31 PM 12/17/03 “I've bagged ~18-20 of the Catskill peaks. I'd have to verify a couple that I think we're on that list, but I'm not entirely sure. :-)” 1:47:00 AM 12/18/03 “I've climbed enough for both the Adirondacks & Catskills clubs. To me, it's kinda like church. Why do I need someone else's organization to bring approval to something I do.” 2:51:12 AM 12/18/03 “For me, I use the lists not to obtain some magical number, but as a way of looking at areas that I have not been to. I am constantly finding places that have so much to offer and most often it isn’t even the mountain summit. I guess what I am saying is, get out and for the joy of hiking not to put another check on some list.” 7:22:22 AM 12/18/03 “The Wittenberg 3780 Cornell 3860 Slide 4180 Sugarloaf (Mink) 3800 Indian Head 3573 Panther (Winter) 3720 Hunter 4040 so far 26,953ft about the height of Cho Oyu (26,906) the 6th highest mountain in the world. Slide, Panther, Balsam, and Blackhead must be climbed in winter as well as summer a total of 39 climbs. ADK's Algonquin 5114 Skylight 4926 Marcy 5344 Haystack 4960 Colden 4714 Upper Wolfjaw 4185 Lower Wolfjaw 4175 for a total of 33,418, help I am having a nose bleed.” 7:55:27 AM 12/18/03 “Well Manuka if you come on the hike you can add SW Hunter to your list and maybe Rusk.” 7:58:19 AM 12/18/03 “ADK 46 Dix (4857) 1 failed attempt East Dix (4012) Marcy (5344) Haystack (4960) Giant (4627) Twice Rocky Peak (4420) Twice Gothics (4736) in pea soup fog Armstrong (4400) in pea soup fog Upper Wolfjaw (4185) in pea soup fog Lower Wolfjaw (4175) in pea soup fog Cascade (4098) almost got blown off this one Porter (4059) Dial (4020) Nippletop (4620) Couchsachraga (3820) Santanoni (4607) Whiteface (4867) Esther (4240) Wright Peak (4580) in a driving rain Algonquin (5114) in a driving rain Iroquois Peak (4840) in a driving rain Other good mountains in the ADK’s Hadley (Hadley) Sleeping Beauty (Lake George) Pharaoh (Near Schroon Lake) Hurricane (Near Elizabeth Town) Hopkins (Keene Valley) Snowy (Indian Lake) 1 failed attempt Cat’s 0 :(” 9:19:55 AM 12/18/03 “Well Lumberzac it's not like it is that far away!” 9:21:30 AM 12/18/03 “I've done about 75% of the Cats on the list ...does that make me a member? The things that happen when you're not lookin'! Sheesh!” 9:43:07 AM 12/18/03 “I'm definitely going to try and get down there sometime next year.” 9:47:00 AM 12/18/03 “Lumberzac, I never listed attempts or multiples or less than ideal weather. Failures include Tabletop in rain and fog and goddam blackflies by the billion, Armstrong from Wolfjaw abandoned because of avalanche conditions (same day there was an avvy death on Wright) and Gothics because too late in the day (Feb) and nasty stuff coming from Basin. M.Silver 99% don't mean squat, gotta do em all.” 9:50:32 AM 12/18/03 “The day I did the Lower Great Range, the original plan was to hike up Gothics and hike the upper range over to Marcy, and camp near Slide Brook. Day two we were going to hike the lower range. When we got up to the summit of Gothics there was only about 20’ of visibility with very wet and slippery rock. So we decided to hike the lower range and head back out. All and all it was a good trip. It would still be nice to rehike the range, when the weather is nice and I can actually see the views. I almost never cancel because of rain. I’m still waiting for that hike when I reach the summit and I’m above the clouds and all I can see are islands sitting in a sea of white.” 10:10:07 AM 12/18/03 “This is bad. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any gear until after the New Year, but I am very close to buying this: TOPO! Greater NYC, Long Island, Catskills & Pocono Mountains See what you people have done to me. :D” 11:28:14 AM 12/18/03 “adding up the altitudes of seperate mountains? DORK!!!” 11:31:46 AM 12/18/03 “I thought that was pretty dorie myself! Bobo what are you doing the week of the 17-18th of Jan?” 12:04:23 PM 12/18/03 “uhmmm, dunno. Would the correct answer be.... going to the Catskills ?!?!?” 12:29:46 PM 12/18/03 “bingo! Now all you need to do is talk SirPete into showing......” 12:37:26 PM 12/18/03 “woo hoo check the trips page!!!” 12:51:07 PM 12/18/03 “Assuming the Eagles don't make it to the Conference Championship, then I'm in!” 1:01:23 PM 12/18/03 “... although, it is a 6:30 game. We should be dead or back to the vehicles by 6:30, yes?” 1:05:36 PM 12/18/03 “That's a poor excuse Bobo. I have yet to see all of the Stanley Cup Finals because I go off hike on a weekend. Just put a tape in the VCR, and watch the game when you get back. If you don’t know the outcome of the game, the tape is better than the live game, because you can fast-forward through the commercials.” 1:12:04 PM 12/18/03 “Nah, This is a DORK !! ”3:14:03 PM 12/18/03 “Damn, I'm a sexy body!” 3:41:21 PM 12/18/03 “Quite the pose there Bobo!” 5:06:37 PM 12/18/03
