Why are you treating this like some sort of test? It's like cindy_lu said, you have this expectation in your mind, you want him to be the right guy, so test number 1 is, does he call me when I want him to?

Many, many, men are lacking in the verbal communication department. It's just the way we are. Of course, like everything else, this sort of thing is distributed on a bell curve. The guys in the 95th percentile are real talky and smooth. The guys in the 50th percentile (average, in other words) are lots less talky than women. The guys below that are even less talky, of course, and maybe your guy falls into that category.

So, quit expecting him to live up to the fantasy guy in your head (no man ever will), and just give him a call.
