“I just hate having to scramble around to get my pants back on when someone comes to the door. Plus it's a chilly 55 degrees in here. That's humbling.”

“I have a confession to make. Last weekend I, Nigal P. McGillicutty, bought my dog Honey a DVD. I bought her that Disney movie Homeward Bound where the Golden Retriever, a boxer and a cat try to find their way home to their owners. Honey has always liked TV and always comes running to watch when she hears a dog or animal. I saw the movie on special and thought, what the hell. She loves it. She jumps up on my lap and sits and watches the whole thing.

“But there was no peanut butter involved right?”

“Was this to please your dog or just a way to get her to sit in your lap?”

“Try Old Yeller.”

“A good movie for dogs is Beethoven's 2nd.

Lots of dog sounds in there.”

“My mom found the whole Beethoven movie set for $10. I didn't realize they made 5 movies about the St. Bernard. Amazingly Laurel doesn't care for these movies, but she'll watch Homeward Bound 1 and 2 over and over again.”

“The movie always brings back memories for me. A friend of ours ran a second run movie theater and had arranged for my kids and I to get passes to see Homeward Bound for free. The day before the movie, we had our year old dog tied to a road sign by her leash when a load noise frightened her. She leaped so fast and hard that she pulled the road sign, which must have been very poorly anchored, loose. The sign fell over heightening her panic and she quickly pulled out of her collar and ran away. We spent hours looking for her and calling her. We finally went home to make up posters and spread them all around town. The next day when we saw the movie, our dog was still lost. I think we all cried watching the movie.

Two days later we got a call. Our dog had followed college students into classrooms at Harvard. Animal control was called to remove the dog. and the dog catcher had been called. We got her back. My wife started telling people stories about the time the our dog went to Harvard. I told stories about how our dog had gotten thrown out of Harvard. (Yet another missed clue about how differently we saw things).”

“Was it the Original, or the cheesy remake with Rosanne bar as the cat?”

“Roseanne Barr isn't in either of the HB movies. I've seen both movies multiple times thanks to the 3 year old, and I haven't heard her distinctive bray.”

“she was the cat in the newer one. I'd recognize that whine anywhere. Her and MJ fox.”
