PHILADELPHIA (AP) — After two snow storms this month, Philadelphia police have reported two incidents of adults pulling guns on children throwing snowballs.



Jaime Vasquez, 35, of North Philadelphia, shot at an 11-year-old boy and his friends throwing snowballs outside Vasquez's home on Saturday, police said.

Vasquez was in custody and charged with aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering the welfare of another individual and related offenses. It was unclear if he had an attorney.

A 51-year-old West Philadelphia man allegedly pulled a handgun on a 10-year-old girl after being hit in the face during a snowball fight on Dec. 10. Police said they planned to arrest the man, whose name was not released.

No injuries were reported in either case, police said.

"It is incomprehensible to me that an adult would feel it necessary to pull a gun out and shoot at or threaten a child because they threw snowballs," police Inspector William Colarulo said.

In February, 10-year-old Ebony Smith of Philadelphia was struck in the head by a bullet when a man opened fire on a group of children after a snowball fight.

Police said Joseph Best, 32, of Philadelphia, fired at least five shots at a group of children because he was angry his daughter had been struck in the face with a snowball. He is charged with attempted murder.

Best's fiancee, Cynthia Powell, 36, also was charged in the shooting. Police said Ebony was not one of the children involved in the snowball fight.

Snowball tater gun??? Sounds interesting. Kinda like ice bullets!! Its probably doable. The projectile I think would have to have some mass and density in order to withstand the pressure. You might also need to use a wad/patch behind the projectile similiar to a BP gun.

That death by gun is 1/2 way down the list of senseless deaths.
Drugs would probably close to the top. DWI deaths, IDIOT driving deaths (that includes the dumb phuck digging the guy out of the ditch) Aids deaths, etc etc... I think I remember there was a study that said, I have a better chance of getting killed by lightning or falling down the stairs, then being murdered with a gun.
I don't have these facts though, so my argument is mute, until maybe Bit or someone can find the list of stats ????????”
