yeah, I lost 3 or 4 lbs. At least that's what my dang scale told me this morning. Could be a totally different story tomorrow. I think I really need to stop weighing myself every day.

AND....Rockman the only one that thinks 295 lb on the horizontal leg press is good for a 5'2" woman?? dangid!!!! huh???

Well - as much as I hate politicizing stuff ;o) - it seems the present administration has bowed to the cash of the fast food industry and is out to sabotage the World Heath Organization bid to tackle obesity.

As eating badly doesn’t make you fat!

Good job, Wing! I am very determined and I hope by April we will both be 20 lbs lighter! We will kick butt on the trails this year! Joined another, better, gym near work- more convenient and really nice. Makes it easy and fun to work out. wooohoooo! I can't wait 'til my scale says 115!!

Yippeeeeee! Down 5 lbs.- FINALLY something shows on the scale! Had to resist ice cream cake today at work-the boss' birthday- and this past weekend made it through the car camp trip w/o cheating. Off to the gym again.....

I'm home and I'm exhausted. I went hiking for 5 days with the boyfriend and Shawn-I think Shawn might write a trip report. I will probably be holding some water weight for three or four days--I always gain when I hike so I will wait until I am back to normal before I judge. I am sure I burned more calories than I ate.

The boyfriend and I were talking about eating some sugary thing when hiking and how bad the crash is when you come down which happens pretty quickly.

Week 3, and I'm still only down 1 lb. Disappointing, but I had a bad end of the week last week. Trying to get back in the groove.

I am working out on my friend's elliptical trainer every day, since I can't hike outside with the cold air causing asthma. I'm thinking that maybe I don't want to check the scale but once a week or so. Lost two pounds but could be water or anything. Eating more veggies and less starch. I'm hoping to lose six pounds a month so wish me luck.

OMG! SOME COMIC RELIEF HERE
I was just getting a second helping of (drumroll) COTTAGE CHEESE... and had a big accident!! LMAO! I dropped the cottage cheese container..... which hit the floor. As it had just been opened, cottage cheese flew all over. More like SPEWED all over.

ROTFLMAO.... looks like it was a helluva party with puke spread out in a 12 ft. increasingly smaller path.

LOLOLOL! This is just killing me. Watch that you don't spew your own meal all over the computer imaging this!!

What's the best way to clean up cottage cheese from a carpet?? LOL!

Back to the carrots.....

Hey, do any of you work-out-at-home people use The Firm videos? I have a couple of the older ones, and just purchased one of the new ones. Great workouts. Ass-kickers, really. I just need to make sure I find the time to do them 3-4 times a week. I also picked up a 20 minute pilates tape, and will do that on the days I don't have time to sweat for 45-60 minutes.

Alright official 2 week total loss is 13lbs, I slowed down some after the initial 10lb week. I also got off the diet on my Catskills hike. It is hard to find low carb backpacking food, although I did avoid most candy, and extra starch. I gained back 4lbs on the hike but lost it 2 days later.
I am hoping that I will now settle into a 3-4lbs per week steady loss.
I still need to get more exercise but I am finding it hard to motivate myself to go down into the basement. I need to get back on track with that so I will be ready for the Devils Path Day hike in June.

Currently I am at 220 and my goal weight is 195lbs.

25lbs to go, lets see 3lbs a week = 8 weeks.

I went to the gym 4 days last week, went bping over the weekend and have gone 4 days this week so far.
I have been really pushing it to. I even started back jogging/running which I haven't done in 12-15 yrs. I'm not eating anymore, probably eating less than normal.
Net results: gained 2 lbs :(

by the way, i ate cheesecake yesterday! moo haa haa!! i'm not trying to lose weight, though, except maybe in the knee region. i exercise so that i can eat whatever i damn well please.

Same weight, but I broke my speed record with walking -- 3.9 miles in an hour and that's up and down miles wearing three 5-lb weights. And my 4-month walking average is 3 miles a day, 7 days a week.

regarding weight lifting
does the pain ever go away? Most painful place...upper chest. Like my weight lifter son would say "my boobies hurt" ;-)

my trainer told me that if you don't feel the pain it doesn't do you much good. It kinda made sense to me too. Bought a magazine a couple days ago and the wrote the same thing.

Women don't get huge without steriods. I know that, because back then in germany they was trying to get me to take that crap. A lot of my German friends was on it, and well...heII no!!!

anyway, what did I want to say? Yeah, the next-day soreness comes from tinny little tears (I know I spelled this wrong, but it's late) and the healing and scaring of those tears is what makes your muscle grow. (not huge in females) as we all know...muscle burns more calories then fat.

oh, and you don't get sore if you don't lift until failure. At least I don't. No pain, no gain. Or is that loss??

bla, bla, bla....thats what my trainer said.

Sounds like everybody is doing great. I hope we can all keep it up. My weight is fluctuating but I can feel my body tightening up in response to all these nights at the gym!
Haven't heard anything here from Tree or Maple lately- whats going on with the Atkins stuff?

Doing pretty good, except I been drinking all night, wine, beer, shots of jamisons. Its my drinking buddy's 30th birthday next week, and we gotta celebrate it with alchohol (how else? party hats!?). At least I turned down the coke. How many calories in a sniff of powder?

I have a 4-lb weight fluctuation. I'm at the bottom of it this morning. Here's where it gets serious because my body tells me to eat more and I rationalize my exercise program. It's also the start of my weekend, but I have at least 8 hours of work that I brought home because of deadlines. Should I do my 11.3 mile killer hike as fast as I can while eating nothing but carrots and a Luna bar? Write the letters I promised myself to write last weekend? Clean the house? Connect with my backpacking buddy and spend the weekend in Pt. Reyes? Do the work I brought home?
Priorities and commitments! I will write the letters quickly and go hiking since I have promised myself that my day off is always my long hiking day.

I guess my house is starting on the South Beach Diet today. LOL. I am going to modify it slightly, I am not going to give up my coffee. I guess I'll give up beer, but may have a glass of wine or two. I looked, it doesn't look deadly or inedible. I haven't been getting much exersize, too busy at work.

Next week should be a good exersize week, I can do some XC skiing this weekend as well. We had an interviewee asking about bicycling in ABQ. Talking about that got me jazzed to get on the bike. They've been gathering dust in the garage.

I've glanced at it. Low carb, and the carb you get is complex starches. The carbs are strictly limited in the first couple of weeks then liberalized, but still looking for food that is not highly processed.

I went to the gym again today and they have this new toy (at least new to me). It is a way to measure your body fat without using calipers. I was afraid to even try it but what the heck. You have to key in your age, weight, height and whether you are male or female. Then you hold it at arms length and wait for it to respond. My came back and said I was at 23% body fat and that represented 46 lbs. I weigh 202 so that would put me at 156 lbs with 0 body fat. I feel like I am comfortable at 180 lbs and that is my goal.
