I eat a piece of cheese with some meals that are pretty light as it gives me that little extra to fill me up. Significantly reducing carb intake was the key for me...

and I LOVE my ricotto cheese breakfast. I love cheese, but I don't go all crazy. Try to eat less.

My pants just busted, now my fast peaks out. dang!! Not a good feeling if you're on a diet.

Gotta watch those carbs! I think I've started to increase my intake. I think its Inversely proportional to how wealthy I am.

Ricotto cheese breakfast? If that's not a joke then the first thing to do is admit you have a problem!

Did you guys see the "Pet Fat" things on Good Morning America?? Pretty gross. Can't beleive people carry them around!! You can get a pocket sized one (weighs one ounce), a pound sized one, or if you really need to think about fat, thee is a five pound blob. Eeewwww. It is amazing how big a pound of fat is-I guess that is the point. I need one stuck on my fridge!!
BTW- I'm down 14 lbs!!! ;-)

still hanging in at 197 or so, but my 36" waist pants are getting too loose. I think I must still be losing fat, maybe gaining muscle.

good for you, pathman!

i've still been eating like crap and not getting home until 9PM. my boyfriend is on spring break all next week (darn teachers!) and has promised he'll cook for me all week.

i did step on the scale today, and it says i'm only 1 lb up from what i originally lost. yes, i know, i can't continue on the path i'm on and remain at the same weight. i already notice it in my clothes. need to get back on track soon!

I've been checking things off my "life" list as this month has gone on. On April 16th at 5PM, I'll be able to check another huge stresser off my list - my big test. Then, its just school that's left. I can't imagine school alone will be anywhere the stress that school plus studying for this test is. I didn't sleep last night from 3:30 on again. Apparently my stress has been manifesting itself in interruptions in my sleep pattern.

Finally hit the scale again this morning. Weighed in at a whopping 203! That's 24 pounds so far. Can't weight (ha ha) to get under that 200 mark...

Thanks, Smiley. It really has gotten easier. With my triglycerides going down and the weight coming off, I have resigned myself to the fact that i will eat less and I intend to stay that way. The one fault I haven't tackled yet is a steady exercise regimen. Truth is, my father died in 1988 of heart disease and basically ate himself to death. He ignored that warnings his body gave him and that is the one thing in life I fault him for. And I know that he would be proud of the fact that I learned from one of his mistakes. So, stuff like that keeps me going too...

way to go treebeard!

I ate a hamburger bun and a couple of fries last night at dinner and had to walk several blocks after midnight to get Tums for indigestion. Stupid hotel had nothing, the only drug store was at least 1/4 mile away. I haven't had to take any since I started South Beach. That is enough incentive for me, even without the weight loss. I know it wasn't thw wine, I've been drinking some all along.

Continental breakfast at the meetings, though, is a pain. Seems like it is all starchy carbs!

I'm telling you. The carb thing has made all the difference in the world. And it amazes me that since I started the diet on Jan 5th, I have eaten 3 pepcids. I used to eat about 2 a day...

Last weekends Maine trip put some pounds back on me. I had hit 210 beofre the trip and came home at 217. Oh well too much trail mix. Today I am back to 212 and should have the rest off by tommorow. I am still hoping to make it to 195lbs by June 1.

Treebeard and Pathman- Congrats ! It is a good feeling reaching a goal, or getting to a place where you are in reach of that goal. Whooo-wooo!!! I'm down 15, I was planning on being down 20 by the end of April, but that may not happen that quick. Sure feel better and I can fit into stuff I haven't worn for a year. (however, thta did not prevent me from buying new clothes - hiking and regular!)

I'm down to 170 from around 190 last May. I feel really good at this weight, but think I should trim up some more. Twenty-six years ago when I was 168 I got disgusted with myself and started running...ended up at 148 (for about a week). 155 to 160 is real good for me. The smaller I can get, the less of me I'll have to haul on my thru hike.

weighed in at 207 this morning. had my bf% taken also; @ 12%. im pretty happy with that, even though it's up a little from what it once was. seems like i've been packing on mass like crazy lately, so a little extra fat won't kill me. i'll just cut it back off here in a few weeks.
one thing im not liking though is my abs were showing pretty good and they're starting to recede now. oh well, i guess the only way to gain weight is to gain weight. it would just be nice to be able to put on some serious muscle and lose some serious fat at the same time.

tssss, can't hardly see Ewker anymore. I swear he disapeared in front of my eyes. And he's kickn' everyone's booty hiking. Energy out the wazzu! oh however to spell that.

anyway, I started running my 6.3 miles again. Can't loose anything passed those darn 10 lbs that you can't see in the first place. Oh well...I guess I'll have to keep trying.

I am start measuring my body fat percentage. I may loose fat, but gain muscle. I really am not sure. Dangid!! Getting frustrated!

"Persistance is my friend now. I am so determined I no longer fear falling off the wagon." You got it, the whole damn thing, right there is a nutshell. It's something Atkins, South Beach or no one else can give you. You are now your own best friend and number one supporter. If you hang on to those words, keep them close, and you will not sabatoge yourself. We should all copy those words and post them on the refrigerator. Really good! You're smarter than I thunk.

I lost the bet!!!!
I lost the bet and had to shave my head.

But I'm still winning. I haven't posted since early Jan so I could focus my attention on training. In the last 100 days I've gone from fat/bulky 271 to 238 lbs and I feel pretty darn good. I've only lost 3lbs of lean mass with all the lifting/running/dieting I've been doing. Even though I don't have the strength I did in my 20's (which was the bet) I'm gonna keep going and try to reach 210 lbs. Man, I haven't been below 200 since high school graduation.

lol rockman.

anyway, so I was sittin' in front of this computer last night, and all of a sutton out of nowhere, my 10 year old turd said "mom, you look like you gained weight" ha!!! you could've heard a pin drop. My husband stopped eating, and looked at cameron like he was insane. (yeah, don't think I didn't see it) bryan stopped doing what he was doing and left into his room very quietly.

None of them said a word. I looked!! didn't know what to say. I sure didn't want to hear it from a 10 year old. Then he had the nerv to say "normally if you run every day you suppose to loose weight, not gain".

I am going to kill him! Anyway, I didn't gain any weight in a week. I must've been totally swollen up from the trip, but still, I sure didn't want to hear that!!

I have been between 194-196 lbs for the longest time. No matter how much I excerise or watch what I eat I can seem to get past this weight. It was my goal to be at 180 lbs by the end of May. Not sure if I am going to make it or not.

Know what ya mean , Ewker. Can't get the last 3 or 4 pounds off. I haven't REALLY been too serious about it though, allowing myself to cheat and not fret about it. Also slowed down on the gym a bit-needed some time to do some other stuff. My goal was to lose 20 by the end of April. Lost 17. Close enough.

Pathman, I am 5'10" According to Dr's scales or whatever they use I should be 165 lbs. I can't even remember weighing that much before. I do remember weighing 180 lbs though so that is kind of what I would like to get back to. I was at 255 lbs last May so I feel I have went about this weight loss the right way..slow and steady
