“So, I read above the argument that you can't make the weak strong by making the strong weak. This is a point which I agree with wholeheartedly, which is why it seems important to be skeptical of the party that openly gives advantage to those who already wield the most power. It is in their interest to bring in more and more illegal aliens to take jobs because it drives the labor cost down, thus making a work force that was formerly strong, weak. That is why you should question an administration who wants to give more control to corporations who have no interest in maintaining jobs in the USA.
Starve the public sector until power is held by the private sector and hope that their sense of patriotism and good will toward their fellow citizenry overcomes their greed? Uhhhh....there are many examples that have cost the American citizens billions and billions to the contrary. Corporate rip-offs have cost even the conservatives of this country more in the last three years than their taxes have cost them in decades.”

“Case in Point from Dunadan's comment.

1.) Charter Schools - the privatization of public schools, using public cash. Most out here in Ohio fail, and many are rife with corruption. A few have closed, sticking taxpayers with mucho $, and all of this drains the public school sytem.

2.) Bush's tax cuts gave the average guy $400-$600 per year. The rich (those making $100K or better) got much more. Bush didn't fund No Child Left Behind, which he could have, using the tax cut $. As a result, the burden is on the local school systems to pay for it. In addition, the jobs that the tax cuts were supposed to create (see:trickle down economics), along with lack of enforcement of certain aspects of NAFTA (Labor and Environmental agreements), have sent 1 in 6 manufacturing (exculding McDonald workers) jobs out of the state of Ohio. This means companies are closing, and the schools generate revenue from these companies personal property tax. Furthermore, the rising cost of healthcare (30%+, each year, over the least 3 years), and no regulation from the Bush admin. (see Bush campaign donor list) have created an additional windfall for the schools. Finally, Bush's republican buddies who run the state of ohio have decreased aide to schools, creating more loss of tax dollars, because......THIS IS HOW TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS WORKS! The result, a combined 7 million shortfall for two local school districts for next year, and beyond. Why, the middle class communities can't afford the increases (Demographic consists of many retirees, and MHI's of between $36-$40K), in other words, people who barely got any tax relief from Bush, and now are expected to shell out the cash to save the schools. The only people that got trickled on were the 70+ workers I represent, the 50+ teachers that are getting laid off, the kids, the community's home values, and pretty much anybody that didn't recieve a big ole tax cut.

I rest my case.”

The top 50% were those individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $26,000 and up in 1999. (The top 1% earned $293,000-plus.) so, you have one side (poor-democrats) saying we''l take the other side''s stuff and give it to you. check the stats again. the top 1% earns 17.53 of all income,the top 5% earns 31.99,the top 10% earns 43.11%,the top 25% earns 65.23%, and the top 50% earns 86.19% of all the income.

democrats always say "tax cuts for the rich!". well, there's not much of a way to cut taxes on the bottom 50% now is there?

Most of the rich have earned their wealth... Looking at the Fortune 400, quite a few even of the very richest people came from a standing start, while others inherited a small business and turned it into a giant corporation.
