Yeah, it's not even close. That is one helluva paragraph though. You DID spell Hardwear (of Mountain Hardwear) correct though. Almost everyone in TT spells is as Hardware.

It sure looks like you're ready for winter nomad. Where are you going in the Dacks?

I don't know how durable that Lightsabre would be in harsh winter conditions. I'll paste below what lthiker posted on the BD thread. It was an email response he received from BD. Richb also said there was talk about this in the lightweight gear section at backpacking.net.

EPIC by Nextec fabrics is marketed as being highly water resistant. This means EPIC resists penetration by water under all but the most extreme conditions. However, we have done thorough research in-house on EPIC, and have found that the material itself is indeed waterproof (determined using a Suter Test to be safe under 1lb of hydrostatic pressure). Since EPIC is utilized mostly in the apparel marketplace, there is hesitation to market the material as being "waterproof" because there is the perception in the general public that "waterproof means not breathable". Therefore, Nextec continues to market the material as being 'highly water resistant'.

We will be updating our site soon, stating that EPIC is highly water resistant, along with testing info and FAQ's in regards to EPIC, and the SuperLight line of tents offered by Black Diamond. Below I've put a couple faq's ..

Epic by Nextec/Superlight Tent facts:
1. The Epic-treated 30d polyester fabric we are using in the Superlight Tent series has been proven by internal BD lab testing to be waterproof (safe under 1lb of hydrostatic pressure).

2. The siliconcoated 30d double-ripstop nylon floor fabric we are using in the Superlight Tent series has also been proven by internal BD lab testing to be waterproof (safe under 1lb of hydrostatic pressure).

3. Because we don't factory seam seal the Superlight Tent seams, we recommend using the tube of SilNet/applicator that we include in the 'goody' bags in each Superlight Tent. This will further enhance the water-resistant capabilities of the Superlight Tent.

30 degree ultralight bag - I have a Western Mountaineering Hilight that is a 40 at 16oz. I like it but it might be too snug for you at the shoulders. A good choice might be the Marmot Helium is a 30 at 1lb 6oz.

How come everyone has begun to direct all of their gear questions to this one person directly?

Who is this Pennsy that he reigns supreme on all gear knowledge?

OH never mind....I just found a picture of Pennsy in the dictionary under gear-junky....

So what is Pennsy buying himself for Christmas this year?

Dear Mr. Pennzy,

I am a young Jedi in training. What would be better to carry on an extended overnighter, my light sabre or perhaps Princess Leia?

Sheesh.... what a bunch of omni-dorks! Poor nomad is trying to keep his arse from freezing off and y'all just want to talk about gadgets, farts, snoring, and getting lei-d.

At least that kind of talk will prevent this thread from immediate burial.

Twigeater - since when do you NOT have a comment?

Lumberjack - there isn't a earplug in the world that can withstand your log sawing.

Bobo - just follow the Farce.

Adventurist - DORK!

LOL Bobo! those posts were from work though. We stayed in the shop today so I got to play for a bit. I'm home now sooooo LOOK OUT.

Nomad is in the gear biz and gets his stuff at cost. Imagine my cache if I could get gear at cost?

btw - it should also be duly noted that my stuff doesn't collect dust. I love my toys and they ALL get used a-plenty.

Twigster - I WAS being nice. I called Adventurist a DORK rather than a %&#@ING DORK that I usually call him.
