Napolean pocket is a pocket right in the spot that Napolean stuck his hand. It is great for sunglasses, maps etc..

I used to gripe about what yuppie overpriced stuff MH gear is but I'm converted since I've used their gear. I have come to respect the quality and design of their clothing and the gear I have by them has yet to dissapoint. I've changed over to thinking of their stuff as a case of "you get what you pay for". It was on clearance too, which always helps. No way I'd be able to buy it at regular price.

Sass - I just came to the came conclusion about MH and ended up getting their Epic Parka. So far so good, I've worn it around to test the breathability (good) but have yet to wear it in the rain.

I have come to a simular conclution about TNF. Sense I have been using my new TNF shell, I'm sold.

I got a coola$$ hat from Reformed Lurker in the gift exchange. It's a wide brimmed mylon hat but breathes very well. I call it my backcountry pimp hat because when I put it on and walk around I hear pimp theme music in my head...bow chicka bow wow, chicka chicka bow wow!

And I got my Sony Mini Disk Walkman too. I can fit 6 CD on one little 3" disk. Runs for 54 hours on one AA battery too.

Made my first batch of beef jerky in my new dehydrator last night. It didn't come out too bad, but I think next time I'll leave the meat a little bit thicker or not neglect the dehydrator so long.

I got some new skis - a little more backcountry oriented. Also, I got a couple of aluminum water bottles (Eddie Bauer, I think). I wouldn't have thought of getting these things - they come with a little carabiner. But they're actually lighter than a nalgene bottle! They look kinda fancy - one's blue, one's red - and will likely get all scratched up, but so far I can't think of why not to use them instead of the nalgene....

Oooo, also got a $50 gift cert from REI - woo hoo!

I got lots of stuff, including some battery powered LED christmas lights, new socks, coffee dripper, and a sip guard that fits a nalgene bottle so i dont spill water all over my self.

My mother-in-law (who's been married 7 times and I can't stand...a story for another time) got me 3 diff. packages of Jerky. Actually, a nice gift.

My wife got me a fleece hat and some of those fleece ear warmers. I used both of them and they're great!

Y2, actually cashmere works excellant as winter hiking clothes. Warmer than anything else aside from down. I got a cashmere turtleneck last Xmas and have worn it hiking 2X. (Shhh, don't tell my mom! I think she envisioned me wearing it to church or something)

I win this prize hands phucking down! My wife and I have a huge collection of games. Well, my mother in law thought it'd be cute to buy us the games Pick up Sticks and Jacks. I didn't know what to say but I really had to control myself to keep from jamming those sticks in the side of her neck!

I was able to turn the mother-in-law's gift into new gear today. The sweater she bought me from the BP store just happened to be too big, so I exchanged it for a Mountain Hardwear "Extend Technical Baselayer" long sleeve zip tee. Supposedly has silver fibers woven into it to cut down on the smell, or something along those lines.
