It must be Tommy Hanks night on TV. What's that other movie where he's the big book store owner and Meg Ryan owns the little book shop and she goes out of business?

10:06pm and all through the house not a creature was stirring... because they've been bouncing off the walls ALL week!! The kids were asleep within 10 minutes. So, Santa came early but he forgot where he hid all the stocking stuffers!!! I was digging in the trunk, looking in closets and under beds, THEN I remembered the kids coming home from school just after me and running to the basement. I hid them in one of the empty Christmas decoration boxes in a hurry. *sigh*

So, here I am on Christmas Eve reading TT. God bless everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Eve in NY if I was there with my family would be a seafood extravaganza. They had huge lobster tails brushed with garlic and oil w/butter on the side, shrimp cocktail, cold seafood salad w/shrimp, calamari, octopus etc., shrimp in sauce w/spaghetti, and I'm sure there must be other things I left out. Oh yeah, and breaded fried shrimp.

I don't eat seafood, so I would be having spaghetti w/sauce along with my non seafood eating nephew. My mom makes the best sauce.

Think your family would adopt me? :-) Seafood sounds GREAT--especially since the coast is only 15 miles away. The coast of LAKE MICHIGAN that is!

Sorry you are alone Lizs..

This is the first Christmas that I've been away from family. Making the best of it by cooking my own Oyster Stew. Family tradition, eh!

all is calm...all is bright.........
back from temple for singing some carols . the christmas tree in the temple is probably about 15 ft or more tall and about 6 ft in diameter across the bottom and totally covered in ornaments and twinkly lights..and smells divine...

now home alone except for chocky the dog and omey the cat, prepping some of tomorrows dinner stuff..and finishing some wrapping ..there are a few twinkly stars out, its midnight almost, think i will get out and soak away the busy day in the hot tub and watch for santa streakin across the sky...
sending good wishes out there to all my fellow TTers....hope you get some good stuff...and a LOT of peace and joy...

Thinking of you, Lizs...it's not the easiest time in the world to be alone...I remember many Christmases like that...it was watching others, families, lovers and friends, and their happiness that warmed me in those days...may it warm you, also.

Four Christmas's away while doing my tours of duty here and oversees. But the Christmas cards and pics helped alot, so did the Christmas Services in the local churches of Deutschland.

There`s a fire in the fireplace, the embers are glowing
there`s not a snowball`s chance in hell of it snowing
last year`s Christmas tree is still in the box from the store
I started to haul it out yanno, but got to thinkin`, what for
I don`t need to be reminded of Christmas past and how we used to do
the laughter, the food, the presents and the mess after it`s through
instead I sip my coffee and look at my belly, damn it`s grown
here`s to you and your`s and another Christmas Eve all alone

good to see you again Big Foot

my Christmas Eve/day was all alone too - for the last few years I have been going backpacking up in SNP on Christmas Eve. This year Skyline Drive was closed due to ice so I just hiked into Hightop Hut for the night. Had an owl visit me and the cookie I left for Santa in the Hut was gone in the morning (grin).

LMAO!

This thread drove me nuts, bithc! If anyone would have bothered to go back and look at the first post, they would have seen that in 2003 -- yes, 2003! -- I **chose** to do Christmas Eve alone -- and was fine with it.

Sheesh! so much for the attention span of America. :-) Nobody can make that extra click.

So, no I wasn't suicidal or anything near it, lol. Thank you, Lorax, for your offer and The Goat for your call. TTers are a damn caring bunch, bithc, your bad @ss self included.

LOL! ;-P

You're not alone in loners!
I have gone hiking alone on Christmas.
I should have gone hiking on Christmas
I was unable to locate the trip report. It could have been lost, when Matt's system had a crash a few years ago. In my pre-TT days, one year I chose to spend the Holidays alone camping and hiking at Cades Cove in GSMNP. I recall plenty of ice and snow and some Neys Years's Eve winds that took my tent rolling away.. I had to weigh the tent down with my tool box, the spare tire and some other heavy things. But I stayed warm and slept good.
