Why are you going out of your way to be obnoxious?

Dont be a knucklehead
If you want everyone to lay off the troll business, just go to your profile page and update it with your e-mail address. There are so many "nembies" that come in here and easily get offended by this bunch. Then there are the "trolls" that are usually pretending to be young women in search of lost love! So no one will take you seriously till they find out you are not a troll. If you do turn out to be a troll, then I just wasted 5 min of my life I will never get back. But if I find out who you are I will get even!

MMMMMOOOOOOOHa Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

I'm not sure that I'm comfortable posting an email address on an open forum. I thought that led to spam? I'm not so much offended as impatient since I'm getting more troll post than answers to questions. I think I'll just ignore the troll references from here on out.

BTW, nice into, "Don't be a knucklehead." You sound like my wife.

This troll sucks, he's not even funny. How the hell did he reel in 100+ posts and he wasn't even an 18 year old nymphomaniac college girl looking for someone to help her on her first backpacking trip!

I am planning on going over to Savage Gulf area tomorrow with my old neighbor from down home. We are thinking of going to Collins area on the south end of the Park. E-mail me if you would like to meet us over there. Also check out my website by double clicking on my name on this thread. I have some pics of the area.

Thanks for the offer karo, but I'll be working. Ha, I hope I get more work done than I did today. This place is strangely addictive. It reminds me of the quote from Seinfeld where Kramer gets his portrait done, "He is an odius, loathsome brute, yet I cannot look away"

Hey knucklehead, backpacking is easy. Take your new gear out on an overnighter, start off with something light. Hike out four or five miles and make a camp, try out your gear. By the time you get back to your vehicle the next day you should have a good feel for whether or not you have the right pack and boots. Just dont go out and do anything that you are not comfortable with on your first trip. Just my $.02

Hey KH, don't let anyone here drive you off! This is typical until you show up to a hike or continue to post, which I see you are doing. I will be on this hike (I hope, just had knee surgery)

This would be a great starting hike for you! If you do plan on coming, let me know. My e-mail address is posted.

I'm going to consider going to that one. I'll have to break in the boots and get my nerve up. Heck, at the end of that trip I might wind up falling off the wagon with the rest of you!

Don’t worry about group size too much. Generally everyone just hikes their own pace and meets up at breaks, lunch or camp. I’m ALWAYS the anchor man on group hikes and lag behind. But at the same time everyone looks out for each other too. It’s kind of the best of both worlds as you get the interaction and socialization but you also get time alone on the trail."
Nigal

That post came 2 weeks and 1 day to late. I want Nigals position as as anchor!

Oh, welcome knucklehead.

The hardest part is going on that first trip. My first trip was with Crazy Mike. If you go on future trips, you will meet him. I was extremly nervous, but excited as well. This was something I want to do for years and my wife finally kicked my ass out the door to do it.

Another question: Do people ever carry knives or maybe a pistol to keep bears at bay? I live a few hrs from the Smokies and it seems like I'm always seeing a bear diving in a dumpster. It makes me think that bears are out there everywhere.

Guns no

Your Glock 17 9mm wont do squat to a charging bear though. Better take the Desert Eagle. It will cover Chip AND the bear.

Welcome to TT, KH.

South Pittsburg? I did some caving there in the past.

Come on the Gulf trip with us and all the troll talk will disappear.

Forget the Dutch Oven. A little cheap aluminum 1 Qt. pot from Kmart will do better. Esbit stoves work fine but will soot up your pot bottom. A windscreen of aluminum foil is needed.
