The Gaza strip. I hear it's better if you wrap yourself in the Israeli flag while hiking it.

Contacted a friend who WAS living there for a few years and he said its not be a good idea to hike in the 'Israeli outback' right now.

He suggested going to the far south to Elat on the Gulf of Aquaba, maybe take a side trip to Petra in Jordan (part of the ancient spice trade route), or to the hills in the Sinai desert.

By the Way . . .
Doesn't "Lonely Planet" publish a travel book covering Israel? If I remember right it has a few hiking trails in it for the more 'adventurous' traveler.

for the uneducated in here:
Just so you know, there is beautiful country there, if you were only educated and had a high enough IQ to figure it out. Please leave the crazy one until you can grow up and act civilized.

For the nicer folks, you can stay.

Thanks Rich B
I appreciate you help. Actually, you are correct about the ski resort and I was surprised that it actually gets cold in Israel in the winter. I bought a guide book and there are some interesting trails you can take. One is along the old spice trail that the early traders used way back when. Fascinating don't you think?

Good luck with that, oh, and those little black things sticking up out of the sand -- try not to step on those.

Actually I am a free gal now
Foot loose and fancy free. I intend to travel much and see the world. I'm finally doing things that I've always wanted to do, follow my dreams, and find myself again. Nobody recognizes me anymore because after losing 78 lbs, they just don't. It is funny when they finally realize who i am. I am even being hit on all the time. Wowzers! People even think i'm pretty now. I actually shopped in the petite clothes, cause the legs in the regulars are too long and the dresses go to the ground and my sleves are too long otherwise. And, i still need to go to REI by this weekend and get some smaller hiking boots. All my shoes have become lose and fall off lol. Imaging losing 3 sizes and a width?
lol
this is fun!
and i have more energy then in ages.

The ski resort is called Mt. Hermon and there are a few reviews about it on Outdoorreview.com Most were pretty favorable with good skiing, although it's a pretty small resort compared to European resorts.

If only responsible people carried guns there wouldn't be any problems with people being armed. Trouble is, there's a whole lot of idiots out there. They give the rest of the human race a bad name.
