after a year and a half of writing, hiking, backpacking, camping, researching, and driving all over PA, the manuscript for "Backpacking Pennsylvania" is now done. it covers all of the state's backpacking trails. what a relief, off to the publisher it goes! thanks to everyone who has backpacked with me.

If you came around alittle sooner, Melvin, you could have made the cover.

Or perhaps a centerfold?

Capn B-

heh heh. Good point.
So it'd be like: the meandering passage displayed a pulchritudinous vista.
...Or were you thinking it'd be just big fonts?
Cuz that would definately make a difference in the wussiness.

jmitch,
Congrats on your new book. If it's put together only half as well as your last, it will be a great guide. At any rate, it'll get added to my "jmitch collection." !! How long to publication? I know it takes a long time. Thanks for your efforts.

I took the same pics as you at Angel Falls and my Bro-in-law's gut is sticking out from there to about bayonne. It's not quite the healthy outdoorsy pic you were probably looking for. Soo much for that picture!

From the title, I'm assuming it will have overnight and longer hikes where "Hiking the Endless Mountains" is basically a book for dayhikers (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

I'm looking forward to it.

the book offers descriptive overviews for all of PA's 40+ backpacking trails. the focus, of course, is on backpacking, not dayhiking. this is a surprisingly untapped market. there is info on directions, highlights, terrain, water availability, contact info, etc.

PA has the most backpacking trails of any state east of the Rockies.
