NFL ethical dilemma

“Okay, I just got engaged to my girlfriend, K. We've been dating for a year and a half.

She grew up in and lives near Green Bay. Her whole family are Packers' fans. Who isn't?

I live in SC Michigan and am a life-long Detroit Lions fan.

One of her friends in WI is from Detroit. We talked about the ethics of also rooting for the Packers. We decided that since they were in our division, we couldn't root for them at any point.

Well, well. My Detroit Lions were obviously eliminated from Super Bowl consideration in like week two. And the past two weeks, I've watched the Packers and secretly rooted for them.

What should I do?

“As long as you live in MI you cannot switch teams. You may be allowed to root for the Packers when they aren't playing the Lions or they are playing some team from another division; but only if the outcome of the game does not have any immediate effect on the Lion's playoff picture.

If you move to WI you can switch to the Packers, but still be allowed to root for the Lions when they are playing someone else.

Those are the rules, Playboy published them a year or two ago.”
