Such thoughtfulness....
Stickmon and cottonsocks obviously organized a little dayhike for Sunday and on the way home last night she "invited" me to go along.

Gee, I don't know darlin, the playoffs are on Sunday.

You didn't ask, but ...
Is football more important to you than doing things with cottonsocks?

If it's any consolation, cottonsocks is probably safe in the woods with stikmon...

...given that I bet she could take him in a fair fight.

Dub, definately go with the backpacking wife.

Ewker, thanks, that should clear up the Sunday calendar.

Bitpusher, that's how I had it figured as well.

Yeah, I was thinking a backpacking wife would be nice too...but the problem is finding one! None of the girls I date hike/backpack and I don't know any girls that do that live around me! Usually they are willing to try it...but I don't want one of those things where she'll backpack until we're married a year then give it up because it's "my thing." I need to find one that already backpacks.

Hold out for the "right" one. DO NOT settle for one that's 90% of what your looking for. That 10% thats missing will come back and become the dominant part of her personality, trust me on this one.

Dub, your young enough that you can move somewhere where there are bping girls, say like Scorchy ;)

Wait till your my age and try to find one that does. Most females my age think bping is carrying shopping bags in the mall. Then there are the ones that think camping out means the Sheraton and going into the bar is the outdoors. Dont even mention there isn't a bathroom in the woods and they need to go behind that tree...lol

I would look at work but I'm unemployed currently ;-) As for school...I'm sick of college girls...I want one that's out of college and has made up her mind. Maybe I'll join the OSU hiking club again even though I don't go to school there anymore...hehe.

Divinity gave me the right idea the other night...find a girl that wants to be a singer then move to Nashville or Memphis. That way they'll be plenty of backpacking around and she can go when she's not busy singing...and if she ever becomes famous then I could quit work and go backpacking all the time while she's on the road...perfect relationship.

Roam...I have learned that you must ditch your old g/f before you can move on to another. They can overlap by a couple weeks as long as the other doesn't know...but anymore than a couple weeks becomes dangerous.

Wow, there are so many things to respond to on this thread!!! >8-)

cottonsocks... I think Stikkie is harmless. Well, I mean other than the usual trip mishaps that always seem to happen when he's around. Hmmmmmmm!! Then again, might want to rethink!

Chili... my my, you're ditched for her own hiking buddies so soon. LMAO!!

Ewker, yeah, what you said about marriage AND let's add some kind of test for heart, mettle and general caring stuff BEFORE YOU HAVE KIDS!!

Dub, yup, not more than 2 weeks IF they don't know about each other. LMAO!!

If they know each other you can date them both longer because most likely one of the women will know.

Go with the non-backpacking wife...that way you have someone to stay home to watch the kids.

Lizs, your right about the kids statement. You have to get to know each other before you should ever think about kids. IMO you should wait up to 5 yrs before you try to have kids. You should have a good idea by then if it is going to work. Money and kids two of the biggest reasons for divorce.
Ewker

We studied divorce in sociology...money is the number one reason for couples married under 3 years in the United States. I remember that if you get married because of a pregnancy your chance of divorce within 3 years was 95%.

wonder why the study stopped at 3 yrs, those conditions will apply 5,10 or in my case 22.5 yrs of marriage.

The empty nest syndrome is one that causes divorces. Kids leave and you look at each other and go who the heck are you.

I don't remember the specifics, but I think it had more information the short marriages as they are becomming more common. I remember reading that if you lived together before marriage, surprisingly, you had a higher risk of a divorce. If you didn't have sex before marriage or live together before marriage then you had the highest chance of not getting a divorce...so saith the sociology book.

Besides the marriage study the only other one I remember was gestures.

My lawyer told me that the couples who get divorced are usually at the 7 yr or 22 yr stage of their marriage. It seems 7 and 22 are the key numbers. First time I was married it ended at 7 yrs, this time at 22 yrs. Don't read much into being married 22 yrs this time, it just took a long time to wake up.

Chili, go to hooters before the game or even watch it there. As far as the wedding, who cares they will be divorced before long.

Also make sure the couch is comfy
