I don't actually know if they have the large Heineken cans, though. I just bought Foster's (Austrailian for 'beer').

LOL, Stove. I built a giant burner with two Foster's cans. It doesn't work very well, though.

Success!
We invaded Fayetteville, TN this afternoon, and were able to procure 5 of the Heineken cans. After Father Goose and I emptied the contents of one them (it might charitably be called "beer") he commenced to cut the top of the can. So far so good, it looks like it might work.

FG bought an extra for you, SS, and if I don't screw up my first one, I'll let you have my other empty.

Well, I emptied one of those monster cans last night. Fortunately I didn't try and cut the top out last night, but I will probably give it a shot tonight.

I thought about posting a fake report about me attempting to drill the top of the can out with a hole saw last night, and screwing it up and drilling my hand instead, but sense got the better of me.

technique that I use to cut the top off the can is to use a small Swiss Army knife blade and follow one of the smaller ridges around the can then even up the cut using the (small) sissors from the SA knife and finish it by deburring using the metal handle of a pair of pliers - rub the metal handle around the edge several times both in and outside the can (sounds awful but works OK).

I've got a pair of meat shears that work great on cans.

What I did was to take a box knife and score the top of the can inside the outer ring, then I made 3 slices from the tab hole to the edge of the can and worked the pieces until they broke out. I then filed the edge with a half-round file. This will maintain the integrity of the can. I doubt the added weight will be noticed. ;-)

I made a pot outta one of these cans last year as well, after hearing about HOI's idea. I used a P-38 (the US Army can opener) and opened the top like a can. It took some getting used to, but it kept the ring on the top of the can intact. I deburred the inside with an old crappy sharpening stone. I' plan on seeing how it works with the Pocket Rocket.

I'm kinda down on tall narrow cookpots. This can is certainly tall and narrow but so light the inherent inefficiency, I might can overlook.

You could always cut it in half and make it squat and short, lol...

Smarta$$. ;-)
It wouldn't hold two cups plus of water then. The two cup mark is just at the top colored area of the can. Add some for boiling room and its back to being too tall.

I never said it would be usable, just that it would be shorter!

dammit, Guiness Extra Stout is good. I might have to have another.

Or maybe I'll drink that other monster can and then try to cut the top off of it.

OK Heineken is not as good as Guiness Extra, but after a bottle of Guiness Extra, you don't give a #&%!$ anymore.
