It should be strictly for Ohio Hiker to use in his radiator if his car stalls and is bone dry...” 8:44:11 AM 1/08/04 “I have a bunch of Michelob Light sitting in my fridge, left over from the 4th of July. My brother, who will drink anything, brought it over. The question: to drink or not to drink? Fortunately, I'm not in the position of having to drink it because there's nothing else, but I got close. A trip to Costco solved that problem, as I now have a case (minus one, now) of Beck's. No, not Beck's Dark, sigh...” 8:50:45 AM 1/08/04 “You had only one so far, Bit? if you try, you could finish that case by lunchtime! :)” 8:51:56 AM 1/08/04 “I'm sorry, but if you have to put lemon or lime in it, ya might as well feed it to the neighbor's dog... LOL Wheat beer? That's a little light for my taste, usually... unless it's 99˚ outside with 99% humidity and drinking a 4-pack of stout would kill you, <G> Has anyone tried any of the brews from St. Peter's Brewery? I got a bottle of Bitter and one of the Golden Ale, but as Roam demonstrated, you can't always get the full effect from just one. It would've Sucked if they'd been nasty --- they were about 4 bucks a pop. And those were grocery store prices (the Fresh Market). They did seem fairly tasty, though. More research is indicated ----- BTW Gem.... Did you know that Piggly Wiggly is also known as Hoggly Woggly?” 8:53:48 AM 1/08/04 “I would but it's at home and I'm at work...” 8:59:03 AM 1/08/04 “Lush!” 9:00:30 AM 1/08/04 “Yes. So? lol...” 9:01:06 AM 1/08/04 “Haven't you both taken the Oath to Save The World From Bad Beer?” 9:05:20 AM 1/08/04 “So.......................... ..........welcome to the club, my friend!” 9:05:57 AM 1/08/04 “Any of you folks try Abbot's Ale? A import from England. It's kinda tasty.” 9:22:32 AM 1/08/04 “Altas or Gobeal (sp?) is/was the ALL time worst. Might as well......well, you get the picture.” 9:25:53 AM 1/08/04 “Never had Abbot's, BR. But, that reminds me that i used to DJ a club in the 80's that had Watney's Red Barrel on tap. Now, it's been about 15 years since I had one, but I remember loving that stuff. They served it in large, pint size mugs and it went down pretty smooth. Then, I tried it in a bottle and thought it was disgusting. Who knows, eh? Ynami, where are ya?” 9:43:37 AM 1/08/04 “The Flying Saucer here in Memphis which has about 130 beers on tap, had a special going for some Pear Ale. It was nasty.” 9:45:25 AM 1/08/04 “Explains why it was on special...” 10:26:24 AM 1/08/04 “i think Heineken is the worst! tastes like licking the inside of a can. nasty aftertaste!” 10:34:00 AM 1/08/04 “Worst beer (iff'n you can call it beer) was Brown Derby, which I picked up in Tulsa when I was a teen. I really had to work to choke it down. It left my teeth and mouth NUMB. Tasted like ambesol. Yuengling (aka Vitamin Y) is a quality product. Nothing pretentious about it. I like his Lord Chesterfield Ales. That and Ballantine XXX Ale are my favs. Beer, proof that G-d loves us.” 11:52:44 AM 1/08/04 “I think Heineken is great - you pour the beer down the sink and use the can for your cook set” 11:52:47 AM 1/08/04 “Ok, this may leave out some of the real young ones. But, what did you guys drink before there were micro-breweries and lite beers and you had very little choice (compared to now) in what you bought?” 11:56:02 AM 1/08/04 Treebeard “I'm too embarassed to say!” 12:00:31 PM 1/08/04 “I had a Pabst Blue Ribbon about a month ago. I couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't think they made the stuff anymore.” 12:01:48 PM 1/08/04 “As a teen, I wasn't choosy. I was weaned on Schmidts.” 12:03:50 PM 1/08/04 “Abbot Ale is my favorite brew in a nitro can. It's my go to beer for camping trips.” 12:03:52 PM 1/08/04 “Hey Mabel... Black Label! (juuuuuuust kidding!)” 12:10:49 PM 1/08/04 “I used to drink Schaeffer and Rheingold in the old days...” 12:13:05 PM 1/08/04 “Stroh's and Michelob...ugh....” 12:14:50 PM 1/08/04 “mmm, i like Michelob! at least in the crappy-beer category. ;-) it's better than Miller or Bud or what-have-you, anyway.” 12:15:43 PM 1/08/04 “Now, I still occaisionally drink MGD...I think it's pretty good for what it is. But it doesn't compare to a decent Sam Adams pils...” 12:17:02 PM 1/08/04 “Their slogan says it all, "Is it beer or Michelob?"” 12:18:29 PM 1/08/04 “I agree with you, Bit. But, then again, when I'm on a tear and about to down about a sh_tload over the next several hours, it don't matter after the first few...” 12:19:41 PM 1/08/04 “Exxxxacly....” 12:26:58 PM 1/08/04 “Sh*t beer always seems to taste better when you didn't buy it.” 12:33:43 PM 1/08/04 “I worked in a paper mill one summer and behind one of the paper machines was a narrow passage. Everyone would call it puke alley, because it was about 140 degrees back there with 100% humidity. If you were hungover and could walk through puke alley without loosing your breakfast you were doing ok.” 12:39:36 PM 1/08/04 “opps wrong thread” 12:40:25 PM 1/08/04 “It all runs together after a while.” 12:43:25 PM 1/08/04 “Yeah. Would someone pass me a beer?” 12:47:43 PM 1/08/04 “Ya can't beat a good beer thread. I was raised on Schlitz. Tried one a few years back and just about wretched. I would counsel anyone who is trying a good wheat beer for the first time to be ready for a little tang. I find Paulaner to be a good beer, and even better when you drink it, on tap, in Europe. I especially like their Premium Dry lager. It's my every-day beer. However, if you are a beer lover, you are, by law, committed to trying whatever micro-brew you happen to be near at the time. Also, you are expected to be loyal to your local micro-brewery. Sorry, just the way it is. Bit, next time you're in Kansas, we need to hit the Free State Brewery together.” 4:04:35 PM 1/08/04 “Absolutely...and I'm overdue to a trip to your fair state...” 4:06:08 PM 1/08/04 “What part of this fine land do you visit? I think I might have heard before, but refresh my memory. My invitation is always open. Free Free State to whomsoever is brave enough to venture into the land of OZ. It would be a blast.” 4:15:53 PM 1/08/04 “Well, the last time I was through there, I stopped in Great Bend to catch up on some old times. But that was 15 years ago. I doubt if anybody I know or who would remember me is still there.” 4:17:17 PM 1/08/04 “EKU 28 is the worst beer I've ever tasted. I couldn't even finish a pint of it. Had to pawn it off on some friends. God it was bad.” 4:36:02 PM 1/08/04 “Microbreweries are not always good. There is one in New Orleans, down by the waterfront, which was HORRIBLE, and EXPENSIVE. I would have thought with the fine dining tradition of N.O. that the product would have been decent, but boy was a disappointed.” 4:44:59 PM 1/08/04 “Didnt everybody drink Lucky Lager in their teens? Cheap 12 packs of 11 oz bottles, and there is a puzzle on the inside of the cap.” 4:49:56 PM 1/08/04 “My ex-brother in law bought a case of lucky when we were in college. Tried one sip, and let him drink the rest. Gemini, ANY beer imported from Germany into the US is pretty bad here. Warsteiner and Bitburger (sp?) are pretty decent here. Problem is when the beers are brewed for US import, they can't send us the real deal. For some reason, US law has a problem with the Germans adhering to the Rheinheitsgebot (sp?). Maybe they're afraid we'll stop drinking domestic brew. Don't drink any of the major players in domestic anymore. Drink only organic brew, so the choices are limited, but personally find them to have so much more flavor. T, don't drink cheap beer or booze. Drink good stuff. You'll spend more on the alcohol, and maybe end up drinking less, but learn to know and repect quality. And if you like Heineken here, get your butt over to Amsterdam and drink the REAL stuff! you'll not drink import heineken again!” 5:46:59 PM 1/08/04 “worst beer ever consumed - Genesee beer (not their Cream Ale) second worse - Utica Club cheapest beer purchased while in college on a regular basis - Ballentine Beer - 89 cents a six pack” 5:52:25 PM 1/08/04 “Rainer is terrible. I once had a Golden Anniversery that actually had a piece of hop still in it. Hammes is awful...” 6:58:01 PM 1/08/04 man this is good to know... “and all this time i thought horse piss was just wasted in fertile pastures...nice to know theyre bottling this stuff up and selling it as the products mentioned earlier” 7:10:16 PM 1/08/04 “Labatt's Ice produces blinding hangover headaches...Bud Dry tastes like soap...coors light isn't beer...Olympia is pretty bad...pabst is actually not bad...Rheinlander is putrid...” 7:10:41 PM 1/08/04 “Coors lite has got to be the worst drink to call itself beer.” 7:42:42 PM 1/08/04 “PBR was the college cheap get drunk beer of choice, less than a buck for the tall boy can at the local pool hall. That fine brew Shaeffer was the cheap six of the day. Coors lite isn't fit for human consumption and the absolute biggest waste of an amber bottle is that Michelobe Ultra crap.” 8:55:14 PM 1/08/04
