I just tried the worst beer ever

“I have a bunch of Michelob Light sitting in my fridge, left over from the 4th of July. My brother, who will drink anything, brought it over.

The question: to drink or not to drink? Fortunately, I'm not in the position of having to drink it because there's nothing else, but I got close. A trip to Costco solved that problem, as I now have a case (minus one, now) of Beck's.

Wheat beer? That's a little light for my taste, usually... unless it's 99˚ outside with 99% humidity and drinking a 4-pack of stout would kill you, <G>

Has anyone tried any of the brews from St. Peter's Brewery? I got a bottle of Bitter and one of the Golden Ale, but as Roam demonstrated, you can't always get the full effect from just one. It would've Sucked if they'd been nasty --- they were about 4 bucks a pop. And those were grocery store prices (the Fresh Market).

They did seem fairly tasty, though.

They served it in large, pint size mugs and it went down pretty smooth. Then, I tried it in a bottle and thought it was disgusting. Who knows, eh? Ynami, where are ya?”

Yuengling (aka Vitamin Y) is a quality product. Nothing pretentious about it. I like his Lord Chesterfield Ales. That and Ballantine XXX Ale are my favs.

“Ya can't beat a good beer thread. I was raised on Schlitz. Tried one a few years back and just about wretched.
I would counsel anyone who is trying a good wheat beer for the first time to be ready for a little tang. I find Paulaner to be a good beer, and even better when you drink it, on tap, in Europe. I especially like their Premium Dry lager. It's my every-day beer.
However, if you are a beer lover, you are, by law, committed to trying whatever micro-brew you happen to be near at the time. Also, you are expected to be loyal to your local micro-brewery. Sorry, just the way it is.

Gemini, ANY beer imported from Germany into the US is pretty bad here. Warsteiner and Bitburger (sp?) are pretty decent here. Problem is when the beers are brewed for US import, they can't send us the real deal. For some reason, US law has a problem with the Germans adhering to the Rheinheitsgebot (sp?). Maybe they're afraid we'll stop drinking domestic brew.

Don't drink any of the major players in domestic anymore. Drink only organic brew, so the choices are limited, but personally find them to have so much more flavor.

T, don't drink cheap beer or booze. Drink good stuff. You'll spend more on the alcohol, and maybe end up drinking less, but learn to know and repect quality. And if you like Heineken here, get your butt over to Amsterdam and drink the REAL stuff! you'll not drink import heineken again!”
