Savage Gulf Tennessee “Savage Gulf Tennessee My friend wants to do a 20 year anniversary trip to Hobbs cabin this month. That was a long time ago. How far is it to the cabin and is it still available? Will anyone else be there this time of year? Is there a wood stove there now? A lot of questions. :-) I remember we nearly froze to death last time, and we are 20 years older now. ;-(” 9:12:13 PM 1/07/04 “check further down the thread list - there's a trip to Savage Gulf happening next weekend and seems like some folks went to hobbs cabin a couple of weeks ago - their thread might have good info for you. enjoy” 9:19:25 PM 1/07/04 “Actually the Hobbs Cabin trip didn't pan out for most of us... It's about 7 miles to Hobbs Cabin. I don't know how popular it is this time of year. There is a fireplace, but no woodstove to my knowledge. Take good sleeping bags and you should be fine.” 9:22:15 PM 1/07/04 “Yep, It's still there. It's about 8.5 miles to the cabin. There is a fireplace, a picnic table, & 6 bunks in it. It sleeps 12 to 15 people when the weather is bad. I thought the cabin was available as long as there was space but it's on a first come, first serve basis. Hike fast if you want to have a good shot at useing it. Either that or hope anyone already there will welcome you. If it's full, there is lots of tent sites.” 9:49:22 PM 1/07/04 “I stayed there one night last week. Was really cozy during a hard rainstorm. Beware of the mice!” 11:45:38 PM 1/07/04
