Ask the manager, can't hurt. All he can say is yes or no.” 2:59:31 PM 2/23/06 “i know Einstein Bagels and Panera Bread have the same kinda thing too...i don't know what it's lined with though” 3:37:29 PM 2/23/06 “Send me the coffee. I'll drink it. I might check that out there is an all night DD near one of my favorite watering holes.” 3:40:18 PM 2/23/06 “i'm thinking about just getting everyone in my office to pitch in to buy it and then i'll keep the bladder” 3:48:52 PM 2/23/06 “Follow up: got this puppy home and it held five!, count em five nalgene bottles of water. I also filled it half full and gave it the old 5 foot drop test two or three times onto my deck. it likely would be suceptable to punctures but it seems sturdy.” 4:16:23 PM 2/23/06 “Cool, send me one!!!” 4:31:27 PM 2/23/06 5:15:37 PM 2/23/06 “What's the weight?” 5:20:05 PM 2/23/06 “SS on an old postal scale it weighs 4 ounces” 5:24:06 PM 2/23/06 “must resist.....two favorite things coffee and gear converted to backpacking use.” 6:03:38 PM 2/23/06 “LOL@curahee : )” 8:56:11 PM 2/23/06 “must resist.....two favorite things coffee and gear converted to backpacking use and to top it off it's free, relatively” 8:03:29 AM 2/24/06 “I like the idea of it being insulated. I had a nice frozen bag of water last backpack with DDX & dayhiker.” 8:06:39 AM 2/24/06 “THIS IS WHY I CAME BACK....I truly believe if you guys were stuck in a cave with McGuyver and a roll of ducttape, you would use the Duct Tape and some gum to make McGuyver into a ladder. (LOL)” 8:09:36 AM 2/24/06 “jackstraw-the next test should be does the tube from a platypus” 8:15:35 AM 2/24/06 “nah. But the lid is like a medicine bottle cap so it is impossible for it to come loose in your pack.” 2:00:21 PM 2/24/06 “so is it a screw on or pop on?” 2:05:47 PM 2/24/06 “screw on. in order to unscrew it you have to press down on it.” 2:14:49 PM 2/24/06 “i could see the getting real frustrating if you put your hooch in there and you couldn't get the cap off ;0” 2:17:40 PM 2/24/06 “If you drank all the hooch this could hold you wouldn't care! ; )” 5:34:56 PM 2/24/06 “http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=802-251T&categoryid=28000 Not sure if anybody has posted on this yet ,but I bought a trekking pole Made by Coleman at Kmart yesterday. I know its 5 bucks more than the Swiss gear ones but still cheap and seems like a good sturdy pole.Ill be trying it out tommorow. It comes with a tip that looks like one from a crutch only smaller that fits over the steel tip.It also has a snow boot( or whatever that thing is called )that screws on. This is actually my first commercial trkking pole so I dont have anything to compare it with but it looks sturdy and well made.Oh yeah,it also has an anti shock feature for what its worth. The compass is crap! but thats ok Ive got better ones I can attach to it.” 11:07:10 AM 3/03/06 “I ran across a great cheap gear idea. I have a nice signaling mirror, made of thick glass, with a sighting hole in the center. It was not cheap, and is a bit heavy, being of thick glass. I recnetly saw a tiny CD which had marketing material about a software product, was about 3 inches across, and I took it home to try as a signalling mirror. It is plastic so its light, has a hole in the center for sighting, and the mirrored side of the CD is very shiny. It works great as a signaling mirror. Score!” 5:21:44 PM 3/03/06 “An even cheaper hiking pole is a pair of old ski poles, which you can get for $5 a pair at ski swap meets. You can take the bastets off with heat, or cut them off with a knife.” 5:31:08 PM 3/03/06 “here are some additional uses for them ... http://www.eddnet.org.uk/comedy/jump.php?action=go&to=1” 5:31:55 PM 3/03/06 “An even cheaper hiking pole is a pair of old ski poles, which you can get for $5 a pair at ski swap meets. You can take the bastets off with heat, or cut them off with a knife. I was going to do that (the thrift shops have plenty of ski poles) but I wanted something that would collapse,so I could take it on a bus or train.” 9:49:34 AM 3/07/06 “REI has a "20% off any one item" sale going on now at REI.com. The code is MEMB26. Got me a new sleeping bag!” 10:01:31 AM 3/07/06 “I gotta figure something to buy.” 10:06:14 AM 3/07/06 “I got a new pair of polarized sunglasses. Lost the old ones. I like those cheap Chillis and peppers REI sells. $20 for polarized, $29 for polarized that float. Not so expensive that, if they sink to the bottom of a lake or get left behind somewhere, it breaks my heart, or the bank. They even have them for kids. Makes taking the little bit kayaking much funner as she can actually see the fish.” 10:26:07 AM 3/07/06 “I LOVE the baskets. Use 'em year-round. Keeps the sharp stick from sinking into the mud or stream bed.” 5:14:26 PM 3/07/06 ““I LOVE the baskets. Use 'em year-round. Keeps the sharp stick from sinking into the mud or stream bed Thats a good point! Im going to be using mine as a wading staff also, while fishing. These telescopic poles wont rust inside will they??” 8:56:29 AM 3/08/06 “Streamweaver, am I punch drunk from 3 hours sleep or did you just make a really bad pun... "Keeps the sharp stick from sinking into the mud or stream bed Thats a good point! "” 9:05:22 AM 3/08/06 “LOL I guess the best(or worst) puns are the unintended ones!” 9:08:10 AM 3/08/06 Inexpensive Head Lamp “Northern Tool (aka Northern Hydraulics) has a 4 LED 3AAA Headlamp for sale for Six Bucks. It is identical to my Black Diamond that I have had for many years and paid over 35 bucks for. A friend of mine is a flashlight affecianado and he look at it, measure the light output, and examined the color of the beam and declared it was a really decent light.” 4:04:19 PM 3/09/06 “http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=73431&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=11&hvarSubCode=2&hvarTarget=browse Heres a pretty interesting little LED light.Weighs one ounce and clips on to the brim of a hat.they have one with 3 white LEDs and one in green.” 10:52:18 AM 3/14/06
