Ithaca Car Camping trip

“I don't know where you live, but I did a MQ seach from Columbus to Ithaca. Wow, between 6 and seven hours. That's a lot. Consider it, though. If we can get Dub or someone else from out there to go, maybe you can pool it. As it is, I think it's going to be six hours for me too...”

“It'd be at least 9-10 hours for me Tree. If I had paid time off it might be worth it but I can't lose the cash to go long enough to make the drive worth it. Not that ya'll ain't worth it mind you.

Besides, this is shaping up to be a crowd hike and I can't do huge groups.”

“If it ain't meant to be, then so be it, Nigal. I do want to hook up with you sometime though...”

“Maybe a Peensyltucky hike sometime this summer?”

“That may work out. Summer is filling up fast for us, so we will have to get specific or do it in the spring or fall...”

“We stopped at Taughannock Falls on a family trip to Niagra when I was a kid. It would be nice to get back there. Watkins Glen is not too far away, and it is also great. We should include it in the itinerary.”

“I have info on Watkins Glen too, Geo. Just didn't want to make the descriptions too long on the trip page. That's why I said there is a lot of day hiking to do on this one...”

“I still have B&W photos of me, my mom, my grandfather, and my brother somewhere up that canyon. It's somewhat developed with stairs and walkways, but still well worth the climb as I recall, and the photos are enticing.

Nice geology too. You may lose me up there.”

“Geo, it's been a long time since I was there too. I just thought it was an area largely ignored on TT trips. So, I thought we could get one together. It really is beautiful there...”

“Last time I was in Ithaca (early spring?) the campsite was crawling with centipedes. It seemed to be the predominate lifeform”

“Tree, from your place, I80 to I380 to I81 near Scranton, and it should be somewhere around 4 hours.”

“Ok, I am thinking in terms of July 8th to 11th or July 15th to 18th. Too early to think about or anyone have a preference?”

“Too early for me to say, but then again 2 weeks is sometimes too early.”

“I think what you do is pick dates and see how it goes. If people can't make those dates early enough in the process, you change. Otherwise, once people start making arrangements, it's too late to change.

I prefer to know ahead of time what dates I'm shooting for. Helps in the planning.”

“It should be deer fly season by then.”

“I'm gonna be in Rochester that weekend for a wedding. Thats good since I'll be pretty close to Ithaca, but bad 'cause I'll be busy as best man. The ceremony is on the 17th, and I'm sure there'll be a rehearsal the night before. I really wanna come up and have some non-hair-burning fun with y'all. Plus, I really want my patagonia underwear back. (Tell maple that if she likes the pillow, she can keep it as my gift, or as compensation for all the food I ate). I guess we'll just have to see how things shake out.”

“How about placing one of those cardboard cut outs of Gary on the alter next to the ushers. They won't know a thing...
