The only thing that will keep her away is if she is pregnant. If that happens, I will take her place in the cook-off.” 8:44:41 AM 1/31/04 “Soooooooo ..... Treebeard just guaranteed that we will not have rain on this trip, right? (isokay, we got a mega tarp after the last fun escapade. Geobeet caused tarpenvy).” 11:30:03 AM 1/31/04 “"OK, the wife in on board. The only thing that will keep her away is if she is pregnant. If that happens, I will take her place in the cook-off." wounded knee Okay, I can see it now. He gets the wife pregnant, loses the cookoff, then spends the next year telling us she would have won if she hadn't gotten pregnant. Then what's he gonna tell the kid? "Mom would have won the cookoff if not for you!"” 10:00:23 AM 2/05/04 “even if she gets preggers ASAP, why cant she go camping? or do you prefer them preggers and barefoot in the kitchen?” 10:02:28 AM 2/05/04 “I have an idea! The cooks have to do something different than they did last year.” 10:38:00 AM 2/05/04 “cook naked? that could hurt” 10:41:34 AM 2/05/04 “I am planning something different. Way different.” 10:42:47 AM 2/05/04 “Y'all are making me hungry. I might have to make this a family trip, if I can convince the wife.” 10:43:54 AM 2/05/04 “You cookin' Treebeard?” 10:44:12 AM 2/05/04 “no one liked my cooking naked idea? fine!” 10:45:49 AM 2/05/04 “No, I'm not cooking treebeard, but I might skewer him.” 10:48:06 AM 2/05/04 “Hey, I like the cookin' naked idea! Can we cook the same species, different part?” 11:07:57 AM 2/05/04 “Y'all are bringing the German cannibal story back to mind...ugh... Maybe I'll leave the family home, lol...” 11:11:03 AM 2/05/04 “Wassup Mark, they only carry chicken at your co-op?” 11:11:13 AM 2/05/04 “Only if you cook bacon, Mark! Ok, no ribs this time...” 11:38:55 AM 2/05/04 “WHAT? no way, you are so cooking your ribs...ok just for us at least!!” 11:40:42 AM 2/05/04 “Treebeard, cook them ribs or she's cookin' your ass!” 11:43:19 AM 2/05/04 “or a tree branch! and im not sayin which one!” 11:43:59 AM 2/05/04 “Yeah, cook your ribs tree. I know what I'm planning can beat the ribs.” 11:45:14 AM 2/05/04 “Ribs are ON, BABYYYYYYYYYY!!!” 11:46:56 AM 2/05/04 “I’ll make liver with some fava beans and serve it with a nice Chianti.” 11:47:16 AM 2/05/04 Ooooooo, mapleleaf >:^O “How about ham hocks and black eye peas and collard greens?” 11:47:18 AM 2/05/04 “May as well add chitterlings to the mix as well” 11:48:32 AM 2/05/04 “That sounds great Mark. HeHe, ... I can beat that too!” 11:49:53 AM 2/05/04 “Ham hocks and beans, now that's a marriage made in heaven........or West Virginia.” 11:51:55 AM 2/05/04 “Tom T, how are you going to fit everything in your car and make only one trip instead of your 5 trips like last time? oh im not bringing anything but my kayak and bathing suit” 11:53:31 AM 2/05/04 “Funny I didn't know ham hocks and beans were brother and sister.” 11:53:57 AM 2/05/04 Geo “How about oxtails and Great Northern Beans?” 11:54:31 AM 2/05/04 “Ham hocks (or hog jowls), black eyed peas and collards? Sounds like good eatin' to me...I'm not a big fan of collards, but if you put a little hot sauce on them, and take a bite with the blackeyes, they're edible. Oooh, add some good sour buttermilk cornbread too...yum...” 11:57:00 AM 2/05/04 “thanks Bit, Im going back to the feeling sickly thread...UGH” 11:58:31 AM 2/05/04 “Nice one, zac! bitpusher, where the hell did you ever eat something like that?” 11:59:06 AM 2/05/04 “Ya don't know what you're missin', mapleleaf...mmmmmm” 11:59:56 AM 2/05/04 “Well, hog jowls and blackeyes are sort of a traditional New Year's Day "good luck food" down here. The collards usually get cooked too...like I said I'm no fan of collards, but I occaisionally take a taste to remind myself why I hate them. Who knows, I used to hate broccoli too and I love it now, maybe I'll learn to love collards. Or were you talking about the cornbread? Many Southern cooks sweeten their cornbread, but I prefer mine sour, it's delicious! My mom's mom is from Missouri so that might explain the lack of sugar in the cornbread.” 12:03:26 PM 2/05/04 “Damn, I just ate lunch and I'm making myself hungry again...I gotta get me a pressure cooker so I can make blackeyes the way my mom used to...” 12:06:23 PM 2/05/04 “umm bit, do you think you could put your tent as far away from ours as possible? please dont take it personal. tree should we start to get a head count for the sites?” 12:06:49 PM 2/05/04 “All right, Jethro! You comin' up from Alabamee or not?” 12:07:21 PM 2/05/04 “Damn, mapleleaf, have you never had a blackeyed pea? They don't give you gas, or at least they don't give me gas. Now if it were pintos, collards, and cornbread, then watch out! I'm thinkin' about it, treebeard...it's a long way off still, and a lot can happen in that time.” 12:11:51 PM 2/05/04 Massive Gassive !?!?!? “That does it, I'm doin' one of my bean creations! Be afraid!!!” 12:12:38 PM 2/05/04 “Let me guess ... you cook the collard greens on a plank, throw away the greens and eat the plank?” 12:17:57 PM 2/05/04 “Naw, you cook 'em with some fatback in there, and just eat the fatback, lol...” 12:19:23 PM 2/05/04 “Geo, what about Paul and family and Creek dancer? they going?” 12:21:21 PM 2/05/04 “Yes, I posted that on the cook-off thread on the Trips page.” 12:27:29 PM 2/05/04 “And I'm going too.” 1:10:59 PM 2/05/04 “I hope UpUrs comes too. We could help him feel closer to nature.” 1:11:50 PM 2/05/04 “This thread reminded me to submit the Vacation form here at work for those 2 days off.... They're NOT available at this time.... I was denied! I will write a post-it note and keep trying weekly. Chances are, they will become available as time goes people swap dates. Keepin my fingers crossed... If I don't get it off as vacation, then I might have a cold that day... I really wanna go!!!” 1:13:30 PM 2/05/04 “"Keepin my fingers crossed... I really wanna go!!!" snafu29 01:13:30 PM Just keep your legs crossed when you fart, dude! (I couldn't resist)” 1:20:57 PM 2/05/04 “Oooo, I hope UpUrs comes too! Do any of you guys have a pot big enough to cook a jackass??” 1:22:45 PM 2/05/04 “She just does not want to be uncomfortable, so I will cook in her place. Maple - I have no problem cooking nakid!” 1:40:25 PM 2/05/04 Jump to Page << prev
