Ithaca Car Camping trip

“Tree, if Stormbringer is anywhere near me, I could take him. But if he heads up to your neck of the woods it won't work. Is he somewhere in the Lansdale area? I could definitely get him in that case.”

“no he is in the Pocons area. Jim Thourpe. about 1 1/2 north of the gap.”

“Mapes, I will be headed up the Northeast Extension, which goes very near Jim Thorpe. There is an exit just south of Jim Thorpe, but can't remember the name of it just yet. If he can stay put until Thursday, I could get him to Ithaca fairly easily.”

“Well, it appears that SB is going to come here. We will keep him outside, where we put all the smelly thru hikers we accumulate! j/k

Seriously, I appreciate the offers and the one that seems most viable right now is NJpacker. NJ, you have mail, BTW. If he waas staying out there, it would be easier for you Pa folks to help out, but I don't want to push him into overstaying his welcome out there, as he has just met these folks. So, we're gonna take his ragged, smelly ass in and de-louse him ourselves!”

“I want to post this once, and then 'nuff said. Most campgrounds have a 10 p.m. quiet time regulation. We got away with bloody murder in Maryland last year when people were up late playing music and singing. The authorities may or may not let that happen. They can, if they choose to do so, order noisy people to leave. Plus, there is the issue of not offending other campers.

Having said that, I plan to party hearty and have a good time, up until about 10.”

“Geo, I have been sinking a lot into trying to make this trip work by trying to keep ahead on details and organizing it in the best way possible. Believe me, I do not want to see the potential 'trip of the year' go to sh_T because we got a little too loaded and loud. There will be quite a few of us that want to go past the quiet time and that's ok. Maybe some of us can night hike away from the sites and find someplace to be a lone and not bother anyone. If that is not possible, we have to abide by the regs. That's it, plain and simple.”

“Before the big weekend I wanted to say thanks to all that put in the work here. I will not even try and cover the names but you know who you are. We will have a great weekend and if anyone should get out of control I happen to have Pumba (large white German Shepherd) who will eat them. (for those who have met Pumba please pretend he can be mean, lol)

This is my wifes first camping trip of any kind so this should be a heck of an introduction. As a bonus she will be happy when I take first place in the cooking contest!

Seriously, I appreciate the advanced planning and work that Treebeard and crew have done to get this party rolling. I like Tree's idea of taking a night jaunt away from the camp area for those that may not yet be ready to settle it down. Follow common courtesy, don't leave any booze in plain sight, and keep a close eye on Tango... everything should be OK!

then you can get a ride with him right back to the AT in the Gap.
