Shorts are comfortable to hike in, but the ticks keep me from wearing them.

I have some Columbia zip-off pants that are of supplex or something. They are a much longer short. HOWEVER, the fabric got all "pilled." WTF is up with that? The zip-off legs aren't that way, so it really looks stupid!! However, they do have mesh pockets, etc.

Also, Cabela's has some fly fishermen's zip-off pants. My one pair has been worn to death and has a big patch on the butt. (why that dastardly G-Force may have seen it!!) I'm looking to get more down the line. They're probably around $40. The shorts aren't quite as long as the Columbia's.

They look like nice shorts. 100% nylon will dry extremely fast.

Hey twigeater...have you heard of WhiteSierra ? I found a pair of WhiteSierra shorts (minus the cargo pocket) at a local Army/Navy store. (On sale for $5.99) They've become my favorite shorts. They look exactly like the shorts on your link.

Thank God I'm perfect in every way.

twigeater..they outside is 100% nylon and the mesh liner is 100% polyester. They're really comfortable and dry fast.

I might have been wearing the perfect shorts today and didn't even know it?

Quick dry, 100% nylon, cargo pocket on the left, side pockets, Elastic waist. No mesh liner.

They do have a nylon pull it tight type belt but it could be removed if the elastic is enough.
Rear pockets too, velcro close. And, the side pockets have zippers.

Ok, so maybe they aren't perfect but I'll bring them this weekend and you can decide.

Ow... that stinger did not swell up on me and it just itches a bit now. I have been very diligent about not scratching it. It drives me crazy sometimes....

One thing I always look for in any pants that I will be wearing under a hipbelt is a waistband that has the bare minimum of bulk. Bulky waistbands loaded with too much elastic, cording, beltloops, snaps or buttons can cause big problems under a hipbelt.

I agree RichB.

These shorts have a simple drawsting...another reason I like the...I hate those belts.

I'm interested in seeing your shorts pepsi :) but I wonder if they are nylon perfecta rather than the crinkle nylon. It makes a difference in the drag on the legs.

I like a small belt on my shorts, and so does everyone who hikes behind me.

Just say no to crack.
