As those who hiked with me last year know, my most favorite hiking shorts in the world are falling apart (all four pair). When a man tells me he's sick of looking at my underwear, it's bad news (in more ways than I care to say, LOL)

I've been trying over the last few years to find replacements with no luck. I've bought about a dozen pair of shorts that I thought were the same, but are NOT.

These are the specs:

(they are actually paddle shorts...)
*Columbia GRT
*shell is 100% nylon
*liner is 100% polyester
(whatever that means as they are not lined)
*mesh side pockets
*mesh zip pocket in the front
*elastic draw string waist

they are packable and quick drying.

I've had mixed results with repairs, but bottom line is I need new shorts.

I've checked the Columbia site and I don't see them there...

Any ideas where I could get them or a similar short?

my future hiking partners thank you for your assistance, LOL...

I think photos of you wearing the old ones are in order. Just so we can help out, you understand.

i think i have those shorts! mine are Columbia, too. i bet if you wait until it gets warmer, you'd have better luck finding them...a lot of places don't have any shorts for sale online right now.

twigeater do you have 'Ross Dress for Less' stores where you are? They have lots of Columbia stuff at discount prices. I got a pair of shorts that sound very similar. They are not a name brand however. Good luck in your quest.

I've got some LL Bean shorts that are great for hiking, they don't have the fancy pockets, but they do have mesh pockets and a drawstring, dry amazingly fast, don't absorb water at all and they are super packable and comfy.

LOL @lyra! Shorts for robots! Now, how would you know anyway?

I've got some Columbia river shorts that really like. They dry out fast, have lots of cool pockets and have mesh liners.

Try a hiking kilt! You cant beat the air circulation in and around ur nether regions!

Oh yeah, I think a kilt would be great for scrambling up Katahdin...NOT!

One other nice thing about these shorts is that they don't ride (VERY important) and they fit well over long johns.

i've been outfitting my fleet that will help me take over the world, Aero!

but you know what i mean...when you look at the pictures of their jackets and stuff, they're all skinny-looking, with sharp corners and stuff. i don't think i'd like wearing a jacket with sharp corners, hee hee hee!

Contact Columbia's customer service and ask them for either another pair or its replacement model. It's likely that they discontinued the short and replace them with a better i.e. more expensive model.

Pick up a pair of board shorts. O'neill makes decent quality stuff. Very light weight and fast drying. Only drawback is that they usually have only side pockets.

$120 for Women's shorts? For that price, a woman should come with them.

As much as I enjoy seeing Twiggy's undies on the trail, I'm praying to God that she finds her perfect shorts. If I have to see those swiss cheese shorts of hers one more time.....

I got two of those gay looking (not htat there's anything wrong with that)cycling shirts for my birthday . . . I am thwilled!!!

Actually they are pretty neat. . .zip t-shirts with pockets (open and zipped) on the back.

Am wondering how they'd be on a fast assualt dayhike inthe whites . .. couple of power bars in the pockets, may a water bottle.

My wife said I would look like a "dork-a-saurus"
lee

I'd wear 'em lee...
Or I would if I wasn't so chunky - all my "chunks" show in those shirts, which makes me uncomfortable...

Although I don't know why I care, as I stuff my fat butt into spandex shorts when I ride - talk about chunks! LOL...

Twig--

My wife was away at Tai Chi Camp over my birthday . .so I got one shirt last night. I wore it on my ride this morning. It is BRIGHT red. BRIGHT! Solid red but for the black side panels (vented mesh type material) running down from the armpits. I do like it.

The other (which I am supposed to receive from my boys tonight)is more decorated I think. I made some comment about how nice the solid color one was compared to the decal covered ones and my wife made some funny comment . . .
