You mean photographic slides, right?

You have to scan them in, and then you can treat them like any other picture. You have to have a special attachment on your scanner that backlights the slides for the scanner. I have one for mine, but I can't seem to find where I have mislaid it...

There is a Micro-soft add-on for Powerpoint (freebie) that makes it real easy to put photos (jpg, etc) into a slide presentation. If that will help, let me know and I'll dig out the URL for downloading it.

Hope that link works. I never tried posting a URL before. Could be interesting.

yes, if you have XP and the most up to date there is an automatic way to do it, otherwise you copy them one by one to your slide.

That page says that it supports Windoes 95, 98 and 2000. My son has used it on XP several times without a problem. One was his Eagle Project presentation.

I am not sure what the 3rd party program does, but Powerpoint is pretty easy. Open Powerpoint, Insert/Picture/from file. I think the newest version is more complicatedt the older versions. But all in all, it is a very easy program to learn. I have been doing it for years. Email me if you have any questions.

Also beware of this. If you load up powerpoint with a lot of pictures, I doesn't take long for the presentation to become a multi meg file. While it will burn to CD rather well, I find we can email the presentations as most companies put a 2 meg bandwidth on email traffic.

Out typical marketing ppt presentation, with photos, usually winds up running 15 megs or so. I had our IT to give me more bandwidth just so I could get them. Problem is that so few people have enought width that I wind up being able to send it, but no one to sent it to.

You can buy a slide scanner at compusa..or have a photo shop scan all your slides to disc and then load them into PPT...Don't forget to put some nice audio with your presentation..It really fleshes it out...

Believe it or not, one of our Scouts was able to make very acceptable images from slides by putting a light source behind them and taking a high resolution digital picture in macro mode. I saw the pics and was quite surprised at how good they looked. Depending on the quality you need, that might work.

Speaking of file size.

On the new versions of Powerpoint. When you are in the edit mode for pictures: There is a button to reduce the resolution of the pictures for the computer. It will give you a choice of that picture or all pictures. No matter how big your Powerpoint is, it should fit on a floppy. You do not need high resolution photos for powerpoints that are displayed on overheads or computers. It only requires 72 dpi resolution just like the web. It is a miss conception and bad powerpoint management if you powerpoint is a big file.

OK, I want to put some music in my slide show to play during the length of it. I pulled a piece of music off of a CD. I followed the instructions on how to insert a sound, play it automatically as soon as I start the slide show, but it won't play. I can play the track in Windows Media Player, but it won't play in my PowerPoint slide show. What the heck is the problem?

OK, OK, I found a way to do it. I had to convert the CD track to an MP3 file first (using a freeware program, in my case). Then it worked fine.
