Altrec.com Customer Service

“Has anyone dealt with Altrec's customer service before? I just bought and Osprey Aether 60 from them ($157) and I need a different size shoulder harness than the one provided. I was wondering if anyone else had dealt with them over a similar issue before?

Or would Osprey's Customer Service take care of me? The Benchmark was the only Osprey dealer locally but they went out of business.”

“Altrec.Com's return policy is great, but I doubt if they have another shoulder harness "as an option" for your pack...for free, that is.

I have a great idea...give them a call and ask them directly.”

“They're not open on the weekends so I sent them an email. I'll hear from them Monday but until then I was just curious. Osprey's CS isn't open until Monday either.”

“Anyway...I never got a response to my emails to Altrec and Osprey so of course I called. Osprey said they couldn't help unless Altrec refused to help so I dealt with Altrec. I told them my situation (I needed a bigger harness) and they said they'd get back to me. About 8 hours later they left a message on my phone. I called them back and they ordered two harnesses for me from Osprey. I had to give them my CC number which they charged $75. The harnesses came a week later and just today I got around to calling them back to ship them back. However, returns at Altrec are sooo easy. You don't even half to call. Just sign into their website and click on the order and then click return. You can then return all or part of an order. Not only this but after selecting what you want to return they generate a return label that requires you to purchase no shipping...the label says postage due. I was very impressed. Any of the other online companies I've dealt with I've had to call and get an RMA and pay for the shipping myself.

Needless to say I'm very pleased with Altrec's customer service. They did their job and I think the easy return on the website and no cost return shipping goes above and beyond.”

T Mac, I needed the XL harness. M was standard on the pack I got which was M. The hipbelt is just the right size and the torso length is perfect. Thanks to my broad shoulders and large chest the M and L harnesses were too small. The L could have worked, but it wouldn't have been perfect. I just shipped my M and L back to Altrec today...so if you gave it a few days and called them they'd probably ship you my old M (not used) immediately. I had to wait a week for Osprey to ship it to them and then them to me.”

Such a thing could bring a tear to my eye.

He is an amazing creature.
His beauty has no sting, yet it can blind you.
He knows not what an amazing creature he is
He views himself as just a guy.

I view him as an angel.
