Skiing off the edge
Wannabp,
I have not mastered stopping on skis yet either, and do worry about skiing off the edge. The trip to Dewey Point on skis was a challenge, but with more practice I am sure I will be more comfortable. I was still able to really enjoy the little ski tour.

I have a 3200 x 2400 version of this one if you two want a copy.
I know y'all took the same photo too....so you may not need another :)

Wind Walker, thanks what a great photo. I would love a copy...the photo we took will be b&w, so a color digital would be great, thanks. You can email it to dgarcia@dcn.org

Cool trip!

Hey trailbum, wasn't that a little cold without some sort of cold sink?

Cold Sink
Cold!? The nightime temps were only in the mid-teens. I had a foot-well at the opening as a sink. It probably didn't make that much difference. This type of shelter is mostly to halt radiation into space and provide shelter from the storm. I could have just slept out in the open but for massive frost formation. I'd like to spend some time working on the possibilities for this type of shelter. Igloos are definitely more hospitable.

Perhaps we could perfect a method of creating oblong, single-person igloos... Or not.

pretty nifty kitchen set up there guys! So, in that gourmet kitchen of yours did you cook up something really spectacular? I know you didn't trailbum....but eh um...maybe one of the other guys?

I could just see you guys, a little more vino in the food. A little more down the ol' windpipe, dash of salt and batta bing, batta boon!

Yeah, we could build little apartments on our next trip! I'll have a couch with a fireplace please. I'll make the kitchen! I like all that ventilation much better than our last kitchen. Fumes=bad!
