Lyra: We can't all like each other all the time. But no matter if you like someone or not, there's common courtesy, which, unfortunately, is thrown out the window by most people when you cannot see the face, or hear the voice, of the person they are so busy tearing down.

StoveStomper: In many cases you may be right. Throughout the history of the site, it's generally a handful of people who stir things up and all. And yes, the political threads are the worst. However, I've seen (no, I'm not going to search thru and resurrect the ones that made the archives) ones that are just degenerations of threads with a lot of potential. And yes, there is the ignore button. However, with the tendency to quote what one finds funny or imflamatory, or desires to dissect, it does little good in masking the comments from one you don't want to read. I put a couple people on ignore here when the feature was first introduced, and ended up taking them off because I still saw the comments from them I didn't want to see. Also, ignore breaks the continuity of the discussion (even if it doesn't follow in a logical, contiguous manner).”
