I buy magazines with TREE centerfoldsView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 22 of 22 messages posted.
“As I looked at the latest issue of National Geographic Adventure mag, it struck me as somewhat funny that there's a pullout of a sequoia tree. Actually it's kinda cool. A guy took over 300 shots of the tree, moving up it so he got all the shots at eye level. He assembled the shots to make the composite photo. They said it's the first photo of a giant sequoia not distorted by perspective. COOL photo project!” 12:04:58 AM 1/15/04 laughter “you are so funny, i think you are the sister I never had. Must be the midwest humor, noone gets me on the east coast” 12:08:00 AM 1/15/04 “Was that not the COOLEST? I didn't really grasp the whole scope of the tree until I saw the guy standing on top of it. Holy nosebleeds! And they showed how they climbed it too. I thought, "I gotta tell Mutt about this. He'll cream his jeans.".” 12:12:42 AM 1/15/04 Giant Sequoia “SierraPalooza ”12:34:28 AM 1/15/04 “I got the mag also. That tree is gianormous.” 1:39:01 AM 1/15/04 “I buy magazines with TREE centerfolds i don't think maple's gonna be very happy,...” 5:31:10 AM 1/15/04 Have you ever said....... “Hey, Look at the bush on that tree!!” 6:15:05 AM 1/15/04 “It's the best outdoors mag out there to me. When I saw the cover said, "With foldout poster" I thought, "Crap, how lame. Now they're dropping down to the other guys level." I was pleasantly surprised at the foldout.” 6:19:05 AM 1/15/04 “ "I buy magazines with TREE centerfolds."And she wondered why I bypassed a visit with her.” 7:48:23 AM 1/15/04 “WOW! There is no way those branches can be real.” 7:53:56 AM 1/15/04 “I was Mr. October, 1985 in TreeBoy magazine!” 8:45:58 AM 1/15/04 “Tree next door 1985 Treebread Bio Likes: hiking, posting to TT, a good beer and good music Dislikes: People who snipe at Maple, GWB and people with one tooth eathing cantaloupe in public places.” 9:46:02 AM 1/15/04 “lmfao, HPM. Oh man, you got me pegged!” 9:47:03 AM 1/15/04 “I thought, "I gotta tell Mutt about this. He'll cream his jeans." Yeah, I'd love to do some Big Tree climbing. There's a group of recreational climbers and arborists who head out to the PNW on an annual basis to climb some 200+ footers. Unfortunately, I don't have the money or time to join them. I don't know how this particular person climbed the tree, but I hope it wasn't by using spikes. On most of those trees, a crossbow or a pneumatic cannon is used to shoot throw-line over the lower limbs (usually over 100 feet from the ground). One of the inherent hazards, though, is it's usually difficult to tell exactly how good of a purchase you have, as it is so high up in the tree. Ah, to be a wealthy man of leisure....” 9:55:19 AM 1/15/04 “Cool, a hobby that uses modern day siege engines.” 10:02:45 AM 1/15/04 “They used the crossbow method. Made me dizzy just seeing the pictures. Mind you I don't have a fear of heights but gravity scares the bejeebers out of me. It's last 2' that kills ya they say.” 10:16:14 AM 1/15/04 “Cool, a hobby that uses modern day siege engines Heh, I never thought of it that way. Mind you I don't have a fear of heights but gravity scares the bejeebers out of me Yeah, gravity is a harsh mistress. It's not the fall that kills you - it's the sudden stop at the end. Actually treeclimbing is a very safe sport, unless you do something boneheaded like I did last November. Most of the time a climber is well within the 10:1 safety ratings of his equipment. And failures due to limb breakage is exceedingly rare, so I guess that makes me an anomoly.” 10:25:13 AM 1/15/04 “NG always has the best pull-outs.” 11:13:54 AM 1/15/04 “Sass, that could be taken so many wrong ways...” 1:15:39 PM 1/15/04 “i once climbed a tree to try to get my cell phone to work so i could call my girl friends, I gave up when my friends started laughing, said i was up around 90 feet” 10:56:38 PM 1/15/04 “How sweet, you went out on a limb for that one, hope you're still together” 9:52:55 PM 1/16/04 “LOL! OK, your humor is good, too, WinterSolstice!!” 10:39:05 PM 1/16/04
