Bob Marley RAWKS!

“Bob Marley is great - I saw him in 1979, I googled the location and his name to see if I could get the date. This is what it said on one site:

Neville Garrick is in the process of acquiring the rights to the Amandla "Festival Of Unity" Concert that Bob Marley & The Wailers performed on July 21, 1979 in Boston, Massachusetts at Harvard Stadium. Many call this Bob's best performance of his career.

He plays a benefit at Harvard Stadium in Boston to raise funds for African freedom fighters, and makes three powerful speeches about recognizing Rasta as God Almighty, legalizing herb, and uniting humanity for common purpose. His performance that day is recognized as one of the strongest of his life ,, and parts of his impromptu declarations are later incorporated into his evocative ballad "Redemption Song." But those around him sense a permanent weariness and fatigue, his face becoming drawn and lined with pain.

“His whole life was about Africa Uniting...true. He was also in favor of reparation for blacks torn from their home roots, but obviously, not repatriation or he would have (once he had the means $$$) repatriated himself.

Also on a side note Haile Selassie I (King of Ethiopia who some Rastas believe to be Jah in the human form) said himself on several occasions 'I am not a God... I am just a man working on God's mission' (paraphrased) Also he was NOT a Rasta himself he was a member and supporter of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (a Christian).

Many (if not most) Rastas acknowledge and believe in Jesus. I believe in the exhistance of the man Jesus but think of him as I think of Haile Selassie I, not a God or the son of Jah but rather a man working for the mission of God.

Much of it is still riveting and chilling. He warns Europe that it must now take a stand against facism:
"... I decided to come myself to bear witness against the crime perpetrated against my people and give Europe a warning of the doom that awaits it, if it should bow before the accomplished fact."

“I found Bob Marley and the Wailers Live at the Rainbow Room DVD for $10 at Walmart. Even had a whole extra disk of extras with it. For being as old as it is the sound of that show was unbelievable.”
