Braun Drops Out, Helps Dean Find Blacks for Cabinet
(2004-01-15) -- Former Senator and Ambassador Carol Moseley-Braun will abandon her White House bid so she can help Howard Dean find qualified African-Americans for his presidential cabinet, according to an unnamed party official.

"I know that I can't win this race," said Ms. Braun. "And I also know that in 12 years as governor of Vermont, Howard, despite valiant efforts, was unable to find any qualified black candidates for his cabinet. I know some people, and thought I could better serve the party by lining them up to interview with future-President Dean."

Mr. Dean could not immediately be reached for comment, since he was giving a lecture to educate a group of white people about race.

“My aunt was the manager of a retail store in a suburb of Chicago that Carol Moseley-Braun frequented. Every time she came into the store the employees had to watch her since she had the bad habit of switching price tags on the stuff she was trying to buy.”

“Carol M-B was supposedly representing me (I live in Chicago). Once she was elected, it was like "I made it!" Then she forgot about us, did nothing and moved into a $1 million condo.”

I just think this stuff about Dean and blacks (AfAms) is stupid. I always thought that the color of someone's skin wasn't supposed to matter...just their character and performance. In the 1990 census there were only 1500 AfAms in Vt out of 550,000 people. Slim pickins for sure and who cares. Was Rice picked because she is an AfAm or for her intelligence?

“Phaedrus is correct. There are not many minorities in VT, NH or ME. I heard someone who worked for Dean on NPR and said that his hiring practices were completly in line for with the minority population in VT. I'm not making a judgement about it, just stating what I heard.

You don't have to worry about Dean's hiring practices doing him in, his own temper will do it for him.”
