It might only be an ice cold Coors Light on this hot summer night, but I've got the most delicious medium rare ribeye to go with it.

I was warm yesterday, wasn't it Ruby. I was out planting all day, sweating my arse off. Last night I sat on the deck and enjoyed a fine handcrafted fresh Robert the Bruce from a small local brewery. Three Floyds is the maker.

I'm not a real beer snob (I like Old Mildew for cryin' out loud!) but I prefer Guinness over Beamish. Beamish almost has a chacolaty taste to it. It's still very good.

Have you ever had Boddington's Pub Ale Tilt? It's a golden color with the creamy head and a "kissed by honey bees" after taste, yet still pretty strong tasting.

did someone mention chocolate!?
Beamish has overtones of Chocolate? I got to try that!

I had a "Fat Tire" last night too, but I didn't care for it much. Too heavy and carmelly.

One of my favorite stouts ever was a chocolate stout. I wish I could remember what it was.

Whatever's on sell at the gas station. Beer is beer so it might as well be cheap. If it's rough terrain I might fill a flask with some Southern Comfort to save weight.

Drive 8 miles to town, or drink whiskey.

Hey Tilt! I drank chicha on a number of occassions on my trip (luckily not the chewed up stuff made from saliva). Usually it tasted like crap but we went to a neighborhood Christmas festival in Cuzco and the specialty was strawberry chicha. It was very drinkable but everyone kept telling us to watch out and that it would hit us hard in the stomach. It made it hard to moderate since everyonbe was plowed and kept refilling our glasses with courses of "Salut!" Eventually we got really headachey and our stomach started to hurt. Then came the internal combustion.

Mendicino Brewing Company....
White Hawk India Pale Ale

They brew it in lumberzac's neighborhood as well in Mendicino, Cal.

Way cool, Rosey --- I think it's a blast that they're still making it today... (though the recipe seems to have changed some in a couple of thousand years)...

Here's a nifty webpage about the excavations at Cerro Baúl.

Chicha es bueno, para Pusitunka es mejor!
Oh yeah, I've had the homegrown chicha where they take corn meal and stuff it in their mouths and make these wet balls of corn slush and then leave them on a wooden plank in the sun to dry. My Bolivian friend convinced me to try a very small glass of the stuff, it had all kind of white and black speckled floaties. My chest was all puffed out after doing our first successful Andean climb - so I said, Me Strong Americano... sure!!!

Internal combustion is an understatement! It was more like Montezuma's Revenge meets Dengue Fever. I spent the next couple days running around LaPaz in search of Pepto-Bismal - there was none (this was where I learned about the merits of Pepto for travelors!). Instead, I had to eat these terrible tasting bismuth tablets and the rest I won't even go into!

Viva la pastuerizacion!
