When I first looked at the shots I had to do a doubletake, cuz I thought I saw Crazy Mike. I guess it might be Wounded Knee?? But he is wearing clothes similar to what Crazy Mike has worn before and has the same kind of body structure. Least wise, it looked that way in the pics. Also, please bar pants that have reflective stripes on them!! LOL! j/k" lizs We do have the same body structure except I have a lot less meat on my bones.” 8:42:07 AM 1/22/04 8:44:19 AM 1/22/04 “I had it on the 2 sec slideshow and missed the caption, but wondered why someone's face was scratched out. I should have known it was SuperTroll. That caption is great. How about MM doing some rubberknecker action as he looks away.” 8:49:31 AM 1/22/04 “That is awesome!” 8:55:42 AM 1/22/04 “Gojo's body language in that picture had me rolling on the floor! ;-)” 9:02:24 AM 1/22/04 “He looks a little prissy there, don't he? I'm planning on a two day Savage Gulf Death march. From Stone Door head down the Big Creek Gulf to the Connector. Turn up Collins Gulf and hike it around to the South Rim. Camp at Sagage Falls. Day 2 Take Savage Day Loop to the North Rim and head for the Connector. Take the Connector to the Big Creek and go up to Alum Gap. Hike the Big creek Rim back to Stone Door TH. It would be over 20 miles each day. Any one up for a death march?” 6:31:03 PM 1/22/04 NO!!! “your insane...where's crazy mike? He'll do it...he'll do anything...” 7:16:46 PM 1/22/04 I can do that “I can do that. When you planning on doing that.” 8:12:14 PM 1/22/04 “Don't know yet. I just started thinking about it.” 10:02:53 PM 1/22/04 “I could do it. Don't know why I'd want to. That's more like work than fun.” 6:22:25 AM 1/23/04 “"FG are you saying I'm not a Nice girl? (crying on my puter and desk sniffle sniffle)" cottonsocks 02:58:49 PM 01/22/04 Awwww 'socks, I think that you're a WONDERFUL girl. Why if we weren't both spoken for...” 6:27:16 AM 1/23/04 “OHhhhhh, Thanks FG!” 8:24:19 AM 1/23/04 “Hmm, I am beginning to think I haven't heard half the stories that occured on this hike.” 4:29:54 PM 1/23/04 “:)” 4:31:09 PM 1/23/04 “Here's a hint...don't get the guy with the bum knee to try and help you up off the ground, especially when multiple flame sources are around you...” 4:31:59 PM 1/23/04 “Uh oh...” 4:35:27 PM 1/23/04 “I already spilled the beans on the other thread, FG, lol...” 4:36:18 PM 1/23/04 Savage Gulf outing “hello everyone, you don't know me, my name is jason and i'm a park ranger at south cumberland state park. i stumbled across some of the postings on this board(about last weekend's outing) and was of course, very disapointed i don't know if it pains me more to read of your blatant disregard of our rules or hear of the disrespectful way some people talked of my fellow ranger on the savage side. i am glad that no one got hurt or lost, but from readingof the amount of alcohol that was consumed, i am surprised. there is a reasonwe have rules on alcohol (and drugs). before we started enforcement of these rules, there were hundreds of injuriesand lost hikers on the park. not to mention the 12 fatalities we've had over the years. an overwhelming majority of these incidents (accidents) involved intoxicants. it was for this reason, that we started checking campers nightly and cracking down on booze. since we have initiated this no booze no drug policy, our accident rate has plummeted. please help us keep our accident rate down by leaving the liquor behind next time. i didn't mean for this to be a #&%!$ session(or to sound like anybody's dad), but i feel like i need to address the situation before you all plan another trip out here. this park is my backyard, my home. i want everyone to come visit and enjoy themselves and have a grand time, but please, please, please, be respectful of our rules. thank you. also, for those who gave the savage ranger a hard time, he has also read your remarks; it might be a nice gesture to send him a letter of apology. thanks” 7:40:50 PM 1/23/04 “obviously your a troll.cause if you have had talked to the savage ranger you will know he was not given a hard time, I spoke to him on the way in and out of camp that night, and he had a huge smile on his face the whole time, was professional, made a little small talk, and left satisfied that we were safely in camp and off the trail. he was even talked to the next day at the visitor center and made no mention to anyone being a problem at our campsite. Can you even tell me the Rangers full name that visited us that night, his national descent, his hairstyle and what he was wearing...it was raining at this time..keep that in mind...answer this..and i'll be satisfied...if not..F off!” 8:11:17 PM 1/23/04 “I think if you -- "napsack" -- have something to say as an official ranger at Savage Gulf, you would contact the trip organizer or at the very least post your real name here. You have nothing to say as an anonymous poster here. We could all say we're Savage Gulf rangers, couldn't we?” 8:15:36 PM 1/23/04 “George shinn Dark hair Ranger uniform if you are talking about collins. Erich Eichler long blond hair seasonal uniform if you are talking about saw mill. satisfied? You can also ask embear the name of her brother and ask her to verify if this was written by her brother.” 8:20:22 PM 1/23/04 “After leaving the hike and eating at Pizza Hut, divinity and I drove back to the South Cumberland Park Vistor Center in Tracy City to get some Park bandannas. We chatted with the lady and a Park Ranger behind the counter for several minutes. They asked if we were with the internet group. The Ranger said someone had called the Park before the trip and 'warned' them a big group was coming. Looks to me like someone that reads this forum did not like us going there and was trying to cause trouble for us. I saw the Ranger that came into camp both Fri and Sat nights. No one gave him a hard time or was disrespectfull. napsack is probably the same person that called the Park before the trip and 'warned' the park about a big internet group coming.” 8:32:16 PM 1/23/04 “I posted before reading that last post. My apologies to you, napsack. Still, we have someone trying to make trouble for us. napsack - Don't believe all you read on these threads. We are a very irrelevant group of charactors.” 8:39:58 PM 1/23/04 he scores 100% on the Test “ok...this is the real deal then...you have my apology for the F-off comment..but nothing was said bad about any of the rangers that i can remember or while in camp...both seemed happy to small talk with us on both nights...i hiked nothing in illegal so i have no problems with you guys, and enjoy and appreiciate the service you do for us.” 9:39:37 PM 1/23/04 “Legit or not, it's still a gross misrepresentation of the trip I was a part of. My speculation is that mr./mrs. anonymous is judging our trip by the threads on this board. Well anyone who spends 5 minutes on the 'Net knows there's more bluster in one of these virtual groups than ever manifests itself in reality. Save the lecture for when it's merited not when your info is based on hearsay and conjecture.” 10:03:04 PM 1/23/04 “Well..you can't judge a hike by what is posted....because if you notice...alot of folks who hiked have not posted....I personally don't drink much (if at all) when I hike...and if you look closely....alot of others don't either.... If it was so bad why didn't the rangers bust us??? and.....from what I saw & heard the Rangers were treated with respect, as always.... The Ranger at the visitors center said nothing bad about our group.... It was a great hike......socially and visually....it was Awesome....” 8:20:04 AM 1/24/04 “I'll chime in: 1. I called on the Wed before the trip to discuss the trip with Rangers. I wanted yall to hear from us and to address any concerns before we got there. No one called me back. I called the Cumberland Station several hours later since I couldn't get a Ranger. She said no one knew a big group was coming. Now we find out she did know. Why didn't she just admit it and talk. 2. Yes, a few folks had a bit too much to drink. I think out of 24 that maybe 8 had a quantity of alcohol less than five had too much. In hindisght, maybe this wasn't too hot of an idea on our part. 3. No one disrespected the Ranger either on this board or in person. If it was perceived this way then I sincerely appologize. 4. If my comment about the Ranger having a beer with us was the part that was disrespectful, well, everyone who went on the trip knew it was a joke. As with most folks on the net, my mouth gets ahead of my intent sometimes. I apologize 5. We actually had a great conversation with the Ranger the first night. The second night there wasn't as much chit-chat due to the rain, the fact that camp was breaking up, and everyone scattered to get their permits. Both were very professional and freindly. They gave no indication they had issues with us. 6. Finally, everyone on the trip privately and on the net commented on how well organized your park is. The staff are professional, the maps abundant, the signage is clean, clear, and abundant. We all had a great time and will take trips, albeit smaller ones, in the future. I'll do the letter one better and personally call him. The Ranger that came in on Friday night from Savage was lighthaired, the best I can remember. He was about 5'-10" and slender. Is this the fella you're referring too. He's the one I left a message for on the Wed before the trip.” 9:00:08 AM 1/24/04 “I'll chime in: 1. Sorry about the double post” 9:05:18 AM 1/24/04 “They knew we were coming...because they were directing other groups away from Sawmill....( we were told that by a Ranger)” 9:12:22 AM 1/24/04 “forgiven...hey dayhiker.....” 9:15:08 AM 1/24/04 “Yes, but they told us that Friday night after they saw the large amount of permits already in hand. However, the lady at Savage Station on Fri morning did ask me if I was with the large internet group meeting at Stone Door at 9 am.” 9:27:20 AM 1/24/04 Jump to Page << prev
