Sierra Scamble by Enertia
Foods is crap.

I should have tested this before this past weekend, but I never had a dehydrated meal that made me want to puke.

This one did.

sierra scramble
as in eggs?? Not trying to be smart here. Serious question. If it is, no problem. I NEVER get dehydrated egg meals. Disgusting! If it isn't, I'll make note not to get sierra scramble.

I use dehydrated eggs all the time.

This stuff is not eggs.

Enertia may be what gave dehydrated eggs a bad rap.

Has anyone tried this crap?

No way anyone can recommend this!@

Thanks for the confirmation.

I have two left. I will send them back to Enertia Foods and continue to use Mountain House Foods.

I like most of the Enertia dehydrated meals, but the sierra scramble sucks . . . actually, I've yet to find a dehydrated/freeze dried egg meal that does not suck.

Dehydrated eggs are runny and require some culinary expertise to perfect, but they don't taste bad.

The Enertia Sierra Scramble belongs in a Fraternity Hazing Ritual.

I am naming names NIGAL
I want the Enertia Foods advocates to step up to the 'plate' and appologize for recomending this crap.

Whenever I rave about their food I always gives the names of the meals that I have eaten. As I consider myself to be a soft hiker where I feel I need dainty frilly foods such as eggs I have never tried them nor have ever said they are good. Eggs, really now, how soft is that?

So to summarize, bacpac bought eggs that were cooked, dried and ground up and then he acts surprised they sucked? Idjit. Grow a pair and carry fresh ones.

What’s the solution? Leave the unhealthy hillbilly food at the truck stop and go for a breakfast that will give you the protein, carbs and fat you need. Try the Blue Mountain Bear Mush.

You are way wrong Nigal.

I have used dried eggs for years. They taste like eggs.

Enertia Sierra Scramble is not a suitable food for human consumption.

You should have added this critique to your report. It is obvious from your post that you concur. This is swill.

No you missed the point of my post bacpac. I don't do eggs of any kind on the trail, therefor I have never bought the Sierra Scrammble, and I have never told you they were good or bad.

Don't try to blame your inexperience on the trail on me fella.

Hey, you don't have the wisdom to listen to me when it comes to water bags why the hell would ya listen to me about anything else?

At the very least you could have used the Walmart bag to puke in.

bacpac - maybe you should have read this before buying the sierra scramble.

Sierra Scramble
"Oh brother!!

I'm at home with my youngest daughter today. She isn't feeling well and wanted me to cook for her. I made lunch and then we started talking about hiking foods because she likes to hike/camp.

We started discussing Enertia meals and one thing led to another and we decided to experiment and try the umm...eggs...if ya can call them that.

The instructions say to "stir until smooth". Yikes! I had to use a whisk and throw my arm outta socket to get this stuff half way smooth. Then we poured it into the pan. Let me tell ya...this stuff doesn't look, smell, or even taste good. We cooked it up and gave it a taste. My daughter almost lost her cookies...I ate one bite and threw it away.

Sorry Enertia...I love most of your meals, but the Sierra Scramble will not be on my shopping list in the future.

:p"

Maybe you guys didn't MAKE IT RIGHT..Pennsy Hiker gave me a pack in Maine and I made up the way the directions say to do and added a little bacon chips, it's totally awesome..Actually I aim to get more when I visit bblinkley's store before Ocala trip.Oats get so boring.Did you guys mix and let it set in the HOT water before eating..Just wondering???

How can you make it wrong?

I tossed in a few pre-cooked bacon strips, slow cooked it to the perfect consistency, spooned a modest portion onto a steamed tortillia and gagged!!

Ivygal

Liz, The MH eggs and bacon are very edible. Add some cheddar cheese and drain the excess water.

Dehydrated eggs are always watery, but the water will drain off and the cheese will blend nicely. The MH eggs and bacon actually taste like eggs and bacon.

Sierra scamble needs something else and I did not have it.

Another advantage to the Mountain House Scrambled Eggs and Bacon is that you only have to add boiling water.

I had to cook the sierra scramble masquerade.

I would have to say that they must taste bad. I usually don't believe you but if more than three people say it tastes like shat, it must.

I'm really surprised that this people actually mess with even cooking eggs on the trail.
Nigal

I do the Mountain House eggs, and add some cheddar cheese, just like bacpac does, only I find it gets a better consistency if cooked for a while.

I want to know when bacpac and nigal are going on that hike. It's gonna be funny seeing bp grabbing nigal by the"nose"!!!!
