Particularly interesting is how Bush stacks up against a ‘generic’ Democratic candidate.

As for the Bush vs. Dem horse race, I think Bush has a very slight edge. He looks like he is willing to spend huge amounts of money catering to all kinds of interest groups - that in conbination with the mega tax cuts and huge milatry expenses will do huge long term damage, but will probably create enough of a short term buzz to get him elected.

This has been an incredibly slow and weak recovery (especially given the huge deficit spending) - but the timing looks to be good for Bush.

He also should be able to patch things up and make the Iraq situation look rosy in time for the election.”

“My concern is not so much what Bush has done (which is bizarre enough), but what crap will he get us into (fiscally and militarily) when he does not have re-election hanging over his head? If the Congress was more Democratic he'd develop Lame Duck Syndrome in '07 and '08, but not in the present circumstance.

If you recall, all Bush's rosey scenarios for THE DEBT were based on the taxcuts sunsetting as planned. Now, as predicted, he and his crones want to extend them.

Just days after announcing his plan to go to Mars(run, Georgie, run!!!) there was a front page headline about no more funding for the Hubble telescope since they NEED to spend the money on the Moon and Mars.

After a while they may decide that the Moon/Mars thing is beyond our means.

He has also used songs who use the names of states. EG "In my mind I'm going to Carolina" by JT. He played the chorus with Dean state yell inserted. Hotel California was pretty funny.”
