I've just spent yet another phenomenal weekend with Jon. What an awesome man!!!! I am so lucky. He leaves at the end of the week for Afghanistan and will be gone a year. It's going to be difficult to be apart from each other for that long, and I'll be constantly worried about his safety. But I am so happy in knowing that we have found each other. I've been waiting my whole life for the man of my dreams. What's one more year's wait?

Obviously his career is more important to him. I don't think he's right for you. ;)

I know you're joking, BM. I'm very proud of his service in the Army.

Kidding? You want me to write the Dear John letter?

Of course I'm kidding.

My "Dear Jon" letters are a whole different kind of letter than the typical "Dear John" letter. Much more pleasurable! ;-D

My husband had to leave for 6 month to Saudi back in 1990, and went for one year to Korea. The one year sounds long, but it's not that bad. Time will fly, you will send him goody packages, letters. May even get a phone call.

Oh, and don't forget to send him the obligated nuddy picture.

Thanks, Gem, for the advice. I plan to throw myself into my kids, my work, backpacking, and lots of letters and care packages to help pass the time.

Of course, the pics goes without saying. Already got that one covered. ;)

dateing does rock :) Just this weekend I went on a date with Mike. We went to a fancy restraunt, had a five course meal and had the best damn cheesecake after that I have ever tasted :)

I like taking dates to a two arch restaurant. They have very good cheesecake there as well.

Where did you dine at Free?
How are all of your new children?

Ruby: You guys kicked our ass at whatever the bean bag game is called. Jon (Sorry, that is his name?) is a nice guy.

WoundedKnee: We (at least me) played much better before drinking 5 beers. That's a pretty fun game. Even though the boards are mine, I have never played it before. I would just set it up in the yard for other people at parties. I'm so glad you were there and Jon could meet you. Now he knows that at least one TTer is normal and safe. When I first told him about TT and meeting strangers off the internet to go backpacking with, he assumed it was some perv's swingers club.

I bet! Barbie still thinks that everyone here is nuts like me. That was my first real time as well.

After Barbie knew you started this and I got my cousin interested, she relaxed a bit. She still does not understand why I would want to drive 6 hours to meet people I have never met before to walk 15 miles through the woods and camp in the cold.

Should I keep him?
ok, I know some of you are cringing to see me posting on this thread but I just have to gloat a little.

"my guy" (he's graduated from being Bachelor #1 [#2 was a loser and isn't in the picture any more]) did something no one has ever done for me before.....This is the guy that I was ready to forget about a month ago. Anyhoo, to make a long story longer...I had emailed him to tell him it was over unless...blah, blah, blah. Well he has been letting me know he wants me in his life. I got this job last week and started working evenings so Saturday (a day unfortunately I didn't work and had gone out of town to visit a GF) he calls up about the time I would be getting off work and asks what I am doing.... He had made me a special supper since he thought I was working.. I felt so bad that I had left town (going out w/ my GF just wasn't as fun as going to his house would have been)

What a guy! So I went over to his place last night and he made me sushi. I was very appreciative!

hahaha.. I think it's growing up on the farm. There was breakfast, dinner, lunch (something you took out to the guys in the field around 3 p.m.) and supper.

Now I say breakfast, lunch, dinner.... but mtmom2, who came from just the road in Minnie-soda... never got "cultured."

LOL!! ;-PPP

In Minnesota, the Norwegians consider a bit of lunch what they eat when they have their coffee at any church function, be it bars, cookies, cake, or potluck.
