well, my plan is to park at the horsehead bridge tomorrow night and walk to the bobo site and camp and then on Tuesday do the entire loop. I plan to do it with a full pack for training, but if anyone is interested, since the car(s) will be right there, you could do it with a day pack.

Well, if you're going to be back anyway you should come to the Ferst and tell us all about Rainier. Bring pics!

I can do the loop with you if you can fit a small child in your pack? The 40lb little one. You're training right? ;)

No? Darnit. I need a hike too.

Doing the section of the MST north of Blackwell Thursday and Friday--short miles. I could extend my plans to include Saturday and Sunday. What do you have in mind?

If the mileage is not abusive I'm up for it. Things have been stinking frustrating.

Noganola... I'm up for the MST if you want some company.

that section of the MST is awesome.. camp near Stoney Fork and go swimming.

I want to get my ass kicked... big mileage, fast pace (sorry rev), inclines of peril.. that sorta thing.

hmmmm,,, but where? Someplace on the midstate (maybe around Rt 26 and north) or the CKT, Loyalsock, or hmmm I have to consult the jmitch book.

I emailed crazypace and pennsy and I am waiting to see if they're interested, that is if they're not already planning a rock climbing trip to the Gunks.

Rev--

You're more than welcome to join in the fun. I'm meeting my old roommate in or around Blackwell Thursday morning. We'll probably manage about 6 miles/day or so . . .

give me more deatils nogranola... it sounds great. I could get up there either Thursday morning or Wednesday night. I would just need to know where to meet you and what time. You running through the weekend or just Thursday Friday. The wife works the weekend.

I was planning on heading out Wednesday night and stopping to crash somewhere along the way/near by.

Here's my game plan right now:

We gather in Blackwell Thursday morning and shuttle back up to another parking area on either 287 or Rattler Rd, depending on how long Brennan wants to stay out. It looks like a pretty easy hike from Rattler Run to the swimming hole site on Stony Fork. There could a be a strategically placed vehicle there for beer and eats.

If we do that it would be an easy overnighter for everyone. That would leave us with some additional time on Friday and all day Sauturday. We could use that to crank out the West Rim Trail while we're there or do 20-30 miles southbound on the MST.

Depending on how you want to go.. you are welcome at my place. We are where I-80 and Rt 15 intersect. It would be 1.5 hours or so to Blackwell. If you came in Rt 6 that would take you out of your way.

I don't know how much I could commit to the West Rim Trail, although I am in much better shape than I was the last time I tried it. We could about that tho.

Should we expect you for Wednesday night? Flamingo says "fine". If not, what are the meeting plans and times for thursday morning. I am looking forward to this.

I think you should start at 287, some interesting scenery between there and Rattler Road.

Have fun, it's a really nice trail. Stony Fork will be great in this hot weather.

Rev--

Let's shoot for 9:30 Thursday morning @ the PA 414 canoe access lot.

jeff--

I'm up for it, but it depends on how far everyone else wants to hike. With parking so close this could easily be a slack-pack.

Just a heads up....

I will not have a car while there. I'll be brought up, dropped off and then plan to hang around somewhere obvious til my wife can get me when ever we are going to be done... so I would appreciate knowing what the full plans are before they happen.... :)

We looking to be out til Fri night, Sat night, or Sunday?

I won't be able to spot a car on this one. :(

I'd suggest trying to do the BFT as an overnighter, but I doubt anyone that's signed up has the cajones to attempt that with me.

But I'd like to kill the WRT instead. It's time for me to start getting in shape for hiking season!
nogranola
1:40:40 PM

WRT in two days is beyond me I think. I guess I don't know for sure unless I try, but I am somewhat concerned about it. Would you want to go Northbound or are you looking at South bound? I assume this is in addition to the MST section you were talking about.
Ramblinrev
2:00:50 PM

Yep. The WRT would be after the MST bit. We'll probably flip a coin for direction and run the 30 miles in an overnight.
spindlette

I still think the BFT can be done as an overnighter. Hell, Pennsy did it!

I'm sure it can.... knock yourself out.... I'll wait for you at a campsite somewhere close to where you start. I'm serious about that if you want to try it. I KNOW for a fact I would not be able to do it. But far be it from me to spoil your fun.

If you were trying the dayhike, I'd be tempted to join you.
